When I check the maintenance service for my LS460 and RX350 at 60k miles, I found some service content and price are different.

I understand I get charge more for oil change on V8 460 vs V6 350, but why braking fluid flush is $105 for RX350 and $185 for LS460? LS460 use more brake fluid than RX350?

Why there is recommend spark plug change for LS460 at 60K miles, but no recommend spark plug change for RX350 till 120k miles? Spark plugs last much longer in RX350?

 

Prices being different is a dealer dependent thing. Why do they charge more for the LS? Because they can.

As for the spark plugs, different engines. The LS is a direct injection engine, the RX is not...different maintenance needs.

 

Also, the procedure to properly flush the brake system on the LS is likely to be more labor intensive, as it requires use of Techstream to "pump" the brakes electronically during the bleeding process. On the RX, while I don't know for certain, I suspect the procedure is closer to the "conventional" approach that requires no electronics, hence the apples-to-apples cheaper price.

Darcars Lexus in MD just quoted me $1,400 for the 60k service justifying that price because it required spark plug change. I just went with the 70k service for $360 which i know is a rip off still but at least i got that over with. I'm really wondering what else they could've possibly included in that 60k service to bring the cost up to $1,400 given people here were quoted just a few hundred. I wonder if i can complain to Lexus about their dealer trying to rip customers off to such a degree.

 

The quote should have a breakdown what is involved so you do not have to guess.

60k service includes the spark plugs in the LS, so thats why its more, so you paid less but you did not complete the factory required maintenance. I would take it to my guy and have him do the spark plugs.
