open up the glove box. There is a switch that says trunk opener cancel. Try pressing it an attempt again

It would help if you included more information about your car and the circumstances. What year, your name suggests it is a 600hL. Did you buy it recently? When did this condition develop? Did any other event coincide with this condition? It's great that you knew how to check and verify that all the fuses are good. (I confess I would't know where to look for the fuses. I am sure I can learn, but ...)

If toggling the valet switch in the glove box does not make a difference, then maybe it is the motor. When you open the trunk manually, are there any grinding or clicking noises and/or do you encounter any resistance? Providing this information may allow folks here to help you better. If all else fails, it is time to visit your friendly dealer.

I have a 08 ls600 hl bought it about two months ago.trunk will release but will not open all the way like it did when I bought it,plus the trunk will not go down automatically when button is pressed. No grinding Tried every thing I know.I have the skills to work on cars so I will pull motor soon and have it tested.

Maybe it's a poor contact at the motor. You may want to check that first before removing the motor to test. I haven't paid attention to this, but is there only one motor for one of the hinges, and the other hinge is just passive? That's what I would assume, but maybe there are two small motors that work together. Good luck with the repair.

Hopefully you will be able to DIY. I had a similar problem and it cost over a grand to repair but covered under warranty.

Was the cause of the problem a defective motor?

Everything was screwed up. Trunk release button inside, on remote, and touch pad on trunk (sticky and soft) wouldn't work. Could only open trunk by using metal key attached to key fob. Motor and touch pad replaced and it was almost silent and smoother when opening and closing the trunk.

Check the torsion bar in the trunk.

I am too lazy to go out and check, but I didn't know the powered trunk opener still used a torsion bar! That's a good one to check though.

Is torsion bar connected to brackets on electric motor?

Ls600hl60 Aug 26, 2016 12:49 PM

I think it's the same.......mine came off the bracket that holds it to the lid assembly. That caused the trunk to be "too heavy" and wouldn't allow the lid to open and stay open.

Ls600hl60 Aug 26, 2016 05:00 PM

Trunk lid will raise half way up and stop
