Yes that's correct. Close to 10k for replacing transmission before 2k goodwill.

Sorry, I missed that. For some reason I was thinking 9700 includes transmission, control arm and water pump fixes. If you could talk to Corp, there might be a chance they absorb half the cost. Its worth the try.....

You could buy half of a used 08 for that. A whole one if you're willing to take on a brick ton of miles. D:

You could pay less for the trans (2009 w/14K miles) than the control arms and it's already in Texas.

Yeah that is super cheap. Definitely an option to keep in mind.

Anyone in the Dallas area? Seems like this shop is pretty reputable (JP Euro
3521 Security St #101, Garland, TX) based on online reviews. Anyone had any dealings with them?

Called JP Euro they do install used transmissions. Gave me a qoute of $900.00. Now if I find a transmission that's about 1500.00 plus 200.00 shipping. Looking at around 3000.00 bucks after taxes to get the transmission replaced.

Thoughts?

Much better than the $7700 bill you were facing (before tax). Now if only you can convince Corporate to still give you the 2000.

BTW, one of the used tranny sites was offering free shipping. Good luck!!

Absolutely. No-brainer if it were me. I'm actually pretty stoked that, should I ever have a tranny failure (doubtful), I can get a replacement for about the price of a new set of tires. Try that with a BMW.

You know what's funny? You actually bring up a good point, see people from other forums will read "transmission dead" and immediately will say....those terrible LS460's, did you know they have transmission problems?? When the fact is they don't. Same thing happened when the valve spring recall occurred...those 460's are junk, they have engine problems. When they aren't. Meanwhile one guy had a transmission failure, because of various circumstances...got good advice here....has the opportunity to replace it for the cost of what amounts to a Honda Civic transmission...win win. Yet now LS460's everywhere will be known as a car with weak transmissions.

Meanwhile my mountain bike has been more expensive to own and maintain...been in the shop more...broken down more.
