I've noticed when I open my glovebox it just slams down, it doesn't open with any dampedness or refinement, it just slams down and bounces a little bit. I don't think it was this way when the car was new, and I can't imagine its supposed to be this way.

Before I take it in and people look at me like i'm nuts can people give me feedback on theirs?

I just tested mine and it slowly retracts down. Of course, I have nothing in it. I haven't owned it long enough to let stuff accumulate, yet!

There's two black plastic arms that serve as the hinges in mine. It seems the resistance comes from those arms, or I assume it does as I see nothing else that might slow it down other than those hinges themselves.

Yeah the black plastic arms are there, and when you push it back up something "clicks" in there, so its not operating properly...

All I know is that my 08 has a dampened opening. I would think later models would be the same. My wife's 2012 CT200H has dampened operation as well.

Let us know what happens if you fix it.

No click for me. And even pushing it back up I can feel some resistance. I'm assuming it's geared. Maybe something snapped in yours.

just checked... mine does not slam...don't remember her ever giving me a problem. i don't use her, she has become a garage queen until the 2018 LS arrives... i am driving a 2015 Dodge Charger and a 2016 Dodge Journey for now... she has 45K miles on her, so i am giving her a break... bought her in early April of 2012... still keep her clean and pampered...
