This gives hope for me getting mine replaced on a '10 with 84K.

Just got the car back, replaced glass for free. The new molding rubber material is really different, seems way stiffer some sort of layer on the actual rubber where the cracks were earlier. Will post pics

My local dealer is horrible I never had any sort of good exp with them since I am in Delaware I can go in nj pa or me fairly quickly. The dealer that took care of me was Lexus of Chester springs I talked to the service advisor manager . He was hesitant at first then he agreed. To be frank being a Lexus owner last few years we expect certain quality from the cars especially a flagship. I would highly recommend you to browse around dealers near you.

That would be great if you could post pics.

I'm curious if the rubber mounding on my car is the same as the replacement on yours. I'll post a pic of mine as well.

Here is what that strip looks like on mine, a 2016. If you wouldn't mind sharing your new one.

Sorry, but it's in the garage and the lighting isn't very good.

i think it looks the same, the newer one is is more slippery to touch and harder too. i remember the older one if i took my nail and press it it would let me. The newer one is harder to do ...

I have also noticed little less wind noise as i usually drive with my cover for the sunroof open so the light can come in.

Thanks for the OP to starting this or i would be totally oblivious to how bad the molding was getting

Thanks. Honestly can't tell if mine is the same.

Which part of the seal fails? The inner or glass side or outer, car side? In looking at the first picture in this thread, they both look dried out.

Ah, searched a bit more and it seems to be the glass side that fails.

Yeah I just felt the inner seal (closest to the glass) on mine and it is tough. I was worried at first as the outer seal on mine is soft, but apparently it's the inner seal the deteriorates and based on the comparison (and description) with the replacement, they "seem" the same.

I just picked up a 2013 F-Sport and I just gave it it's 1st bath. My sunroof gasket was flaking off in small pieces into my microfiber. I am going to take it to my local dealer and get it replaced.

Did the just replace the rubber gasket or the entire glass panel (or the entire sunroof cassette)?

When they repaired my car last summer, they replaced the sunroof, which would include the glass panel and the rubber gasket around it that presses and seals against the metal edge of the roof. I am not sure what you mean by the "entire cassette" because the motor and mechanism itself were working fine.

I would definitely treat those seals every 6 months or so to help maintain them. Shin Etsu is also a good product although how much it will extend the life is debatable.

While we have zero chance of the sunroof being covered out of warranty on a used LS, I wonder why a 2006 ES 330 sunroof still looks new compared to that of a 2013 LS. In the photo, the gray LS has been Shin-etsued yesterday too whereas the ES sunroof has not been done yet.

Well, it's clearly a different seal system (two rows of rubber vs one).
