Useful information but understandable since the previous owner paid for the extended plan.

Yes, but other luxury car makers transfer it (European-type car makers, that is).

Sounds like a solid profit center for Lexus

Not really. When the original purchaser of the maintenance plan sells the car, Lexus refunds them the unused portion. I had it on my IS. When I traded it in for my GS I received my check from Lexus about 2 weeks later for the prorated amount.

Well that certainly changes the equation, JDR.

Makes sense then.

Do you know if the same "sign over" works for CPO warranty now? I know that it is also non transferable, just wondering if this changed?

Sorry, I wouldn't know.

Your best bet is to call Lexus Financial directly (they seem to have the best information, the most definitive source).

So, just called Lexus on the CPO and was surprised... here is the most recent guidelines: if you buy a 3-years CPO car then it is not transferable... If you buy the wrap extension that you pay an extra for then it is transferable for $50... So I would not believe this unless I see it... When I asked the rep for anything in writing he said he will mail me the wrap warranty booklet and it is written in there, strangely I don't have this booklet and it was never mailed to me... If this is confirmed I will post in a separate thread since this is probably important to know for many members.

Lexus CPO warranties are not transferable. Lexus Extra Care warranties are. I believe the "Wrap" is the Extra Care warranty.

Was always under the impression that CPO and any extensions are not transferable... I even called couple of times and this is what I was told.

Seems that the $1500 I paid to extend CPO of each of my two cars to 6 years was very well spend money, now the warranty (doesn't matter what you call it) is transferable

Very confusing but good news!

So I am kinda in the same boat here. Just purchased a used 2016 ES350 from an Acura dealer, (I know this is the LS forum but could not find anything in the ES forums so here I am) and going over the glove compartment found out that the previous owner bought the car as a CPO and purchased a LEXUS EXTRA CARE PLATINUM VEHICLE SERVICE AGREEMENT good till 2024 with unlimited miles which is transferable once to the next owner for free. Unfortunately there is a page in the booklet that has the transfer info but it requires the previous owners signature in order to transfer the VSC to me and obviously he has not signed it so I guess my question is how to get the VSC transferred to me without the previous owners signature? I know I can call the 800 number but I am trying to do this delicately as I want to know how to approach the transfer without the previous owners input.
