Hey SW thanks for the follow up review. My tires still have low miles on them but are as smooth as silk. It was a crazy rainy day today for sure. As for the wet traction.....my guess is that when Tire Rack does their testing they are talking about high speed evasive maneuvering in the rain....like dodging a deer. Yes these things do happen and we want to be safe when they do.....Maybe next rainy day u can go find an empty parking lot and see if u can get your car to lose traction. As I mentioned before, my car is a garage queen so she wont likely see much rain so i am counting on you

Steve

I agree my P7's stick like super glue in very heavy rain. Not sure how they are on ice or snow because LS would not be leaving the garage if it was in the forecast.

Just had a set of Pirelli Cinturato P7 A/S Plus tires installed to replace my Bridgestone RFT's. My local Lexus dealer matched Tire Rack's price (plus shipping $195.00/tire), charged $100 to install them (mount and balance). One of my RFT's had an irreparable puncture, so I decided that since the other tires had some wear, now was the time to replace them.

Mindful of the control arm problem (I'd hear what seemed like an occasional knock when going over bumps) and my CPO warranty expiring in 20K miles, I also asked the dealer to inspect them. Although the dealer couldn't replicate the knocking some new, they discovered all 8 front control arms were "moving" and split or beginning to split, so the LCA and UCA were replaced, after which a 4-wheel alignment was done. I was told the ball joints were replaced.

So for my visit, I just paid for the tires. As for the tires, they seem smoother-riding than the RFT's, but not by much. Same for tire noise. They were inflated to 36 psi. That and the break-in period might account for this. I've also only driven a few miles with the new tires, so an assessment at this time is probably premature.

36 PSI is over inflated. Reduce them to at most 33 (that's the stock pressure on the door) you'll notice a significant difference. I run mine at 31.

They'll also get a little quieter once they wear in.

Pirelli is offering a limited time $60 gift card rebate for purchases from 3/10/17 through 4/24/17 of these or other eligible Pirelli tires. Here's the rebate form:

Replaced the Pirellis today with....another set of the same tires lol.

Some of you you may have seen in the Car Chat forum that I picked up two nails in my right front tire, and it had already been patched once. All 3 patches would be in the same quadrant of the tire, had two shops I trust say it couldn't be repaired. After some debate, and even though the Pirellis still had 5-6/32nds of tread at 30,000 miles of use I opted to replace all 4. Could have done 2, but that's generally not a great idea with AWD, TireRack gave me one free for the road hazard, $60 rebate and the shop gave me $20 each for the 3 good tires so all in all I got a new set mounted and balanced for about $690...worked out.

Anyways, I can say that after 30k miles the Pirellis had gotten louder for sure, not bothersome but the new set is SO quiet...glad I sprung for all 4...rekindled my love for the car.

Hopefully i I can keep all the nails out of the same tire on this set lol

So just to show you I put my money where my mouth is, although my new LS460L only has 64 miles on it, I have ordered a set of Pirellis to replace the OEM Bridgestones. My wife thinks I’m insane.

Will report back my findings!

Can you recoup some of your costs by selling the Bridgestones at the tire place? They are almost brand new.

I will be getting P7s in the spring. Have about 27K on my Michelins.

Hi

Congrats on your new Lexus.

After having my 10 for over a year now, with very inexpensive tires from dealer, I too, have ordered my Pirelli p7 plus tires. However, I am going 255/45/19 for that wider stance. The reviews are just a fraction under the 245s, 4.7 rather than 5.

I m all hoping for a much quieter and smoother ride. Not too concerned about wet handling as I am in North Texas.

Looking forward to to more from you as you get into your new car.

As always, thanks for your insight and knowledge.

best

Cubby

Most I could get for the Bridgestones is $15 a tire, and I would have to take them and drive hem to someplace else. Not worth the hassle.

Im interested to see your thoughts on the 255 Cubby..

Cubbylex, newbie question. How will a 255 fit your 19s? I have 19 X 8 inch wheels and 245/45 tires. How can you be sure the 255 tires will fit your 8 inch rim width? Other than the wider stance (I like too), what are the pros and cons of the wider tire? I am actually more concerned about fit... Thanks a lot!

Hi guys, I'm looking for new tires for my 08 ls460. have 50k on serenity plus and they have been a great tire. torn between getting them again, the p7s or the brigestone drive guards. Nobody is talking about the drive guards and just wondering if anyone has them and why the are not more popular. I understand they have a very smooth ride for a rft
