Default new to CL, just purchased a 2011 LS460 with Sport Package....

Hi, just wanted to introduce myself and say hello. I sold a 2008 IS350 (Matador Red) and just bought a 2011 Starfire Pearl LS460 with Sport Package, which I LOVE. It's CPO, 32K miles on the clock, and seems practically brand new.

I'm a newbie to posting here, though I've long read the fantastic discussions, tips, advice, and photos that folks are so generous with on Club Lexus. You guys unwittingly helped me purchased my car!

I've searched around for advice on LS460s with Sport Package, all so helpful. So far I've not experienced any brake squeal, but wow!! those Brembos generate an unbelievable amount of dust!!

I'm wondering if anyone has had recent experience installing a remote engine starter on an LS460? Any advice or recommendations for which units or modules to look into? Any warnings or caveats?

How about other "easy" mods? Not really looking to do any bodywork or anything, but I would appreciate suggestions for personalizing the car a bit more.

Thanks!

Congrats and welcome. Photos will be requested in short order, so I'll suggest you post them asap!

I have a Viper SmartStart system in my LS and it works great. You have no extra remotes (unless you want them), you simply push lock three times from your OEM fob or utilize their very easy to use app on your smartphone.

New Akebono pads should help with your brake dust - do a quick search and you'll learn a lot about the dust issue.

Akebono pads are awesome, but they only make the rear pads for the Sport (since the rear brakes are identical to the non-sport; only the fronts are different). There are 2 aftermarket sources for Brembo pads, and they both eliminate the dust issue.

Thanks seekhalilg and R Z. I'll get some photos posted soon.

I'm going to look into the Viper SmartStart system. Sounds like exactly what I'm after.

Thanks also for the recommendation of Akebono pads. Looking at the service history of my car, I see that new pads and new rotors were installed by a Lexus dealer under a TSB just 5K miles back. I'm guessing the previous owner did have problems with squealing. I thought the TSB replacement addressed the dust along with the noise, but evidently not in this case.

I'm blown away by the paddle shifting and transmission on this car. The shifts are immediate, there's great rev matching, and it's just a whole different level than the lethargic and mushy paddle shifting on my old IS350, which was basically unusable.

The LS460 Sport gives me the best of both worlds: pure luxury, refinement, and comfort when I need it, and sufficient sportiness when I want to drive more aggressively and toss things around a bit. It's like, you can really have it all with this car!

And the Mark Levinson audio is just fantastic.

Thanks for the tip, Tec80. Do you happen to know the two aftermarket sources for the front pads?
