Default Disabling the car.

I am going away for a week and I am leaving the car with relatives. They have kids, and I dont want any stories when i come back. I want to make sure they dont start the car.
What can I do to disable the car, aside from from disconnecting the battery.

Thanks.

Maybe take the keys with you.

Remove the fuse for the starter and hide it somewhere in the vehicle. That way if the vehicle needs to be moved you can instruct whomever where and how start the vehicle.

Interesting topic. If the starter fuse is easy to get to, then I 2nd the motion made by lexuslsguy. This will prevent all your radio stations from clearing and other stuff like that. But no starty-starty. I haven't looked specifically, but assume lexuslsguy is correct that there is a fuse specific for the starter. If these are teenagers, this is especially important.

I think I'll play with this when I get home ... just in case.

You may want to leave your LS with someone else because you shouldn't have to disable your car for that reason. That person needs the keys incase it needs to be moved for some reasons.

Don't leave the keys with them...

Am I missing something here? How would they start it without the keys?

You have one of 2 options:
1: Take the key.
2: Leave your car with different relatives.

I think those 2 options are far easier than messing with Fuses.

Thanks for everyone's input.
the reason I asked is, relatives have construction going on at their house and there are a bunch of people running around . I just wanted to know if I have an option to disable the car.
It's no biggie. Just curious. I had construction going on in the garage I park my car, but looks like they are finished early, so the car will stay in my garage after all.

As for relatives controlling children. Funny. I remember when I was 10, me and a friend found my dads extra keys. Within minutes we were in his car driving around the local streets.
Came back home to my father being very, very upset. Few words were said, but I was ashamed for years after that. Fine line between guilt and shame. Guilt you can shake off, but shame sticks around for a very long time .

This thread so reminds me of a joke:

A man walks into a bank in New York City and asks for the loan officer. He says he's going to Europe on business for two weeks and needs to borrow $5000. The bank officer says the bank will need some kind of security for the loan, so the man hands over the keys to a new Lexus LS460L, which costs about $75,000.

“The car is parked on the street in front of the bank,” says the man, “and I have all the necessary papers.”

The bank officer agrees to accept the car as collateral for the loan. After the man leaves, the loan officer, the bank's president and all their colleagues enjoy a good laugh at the man for using a Lexus as collateral against a $5,000 loan.

One of the employees drives the car into the bank's underground garage and parks it there. Two weeks later, the man returns, repays the $5000 and the interest, which comes to $15.41.

The loan officer says, "Sir, I must tell you, we’re all a little puzzled. While you were away, we checked you out and discovered that you’re a multimillionaire. Why would you bother to borrow $5,000?"

The man replies, "Where else in New York City can I park my car for two weeks for only $15.41?"
