Indeed. Lexus feels that these cars are more complicated or specialized than they actually are. Most parts and assemblies are shared with other vehicles and platforms like Toyota Tundra, Avalon, etc. Nothing overly special. But they don;t want you to know that. If I do ever need to let a dealer touch my car (rare), it's from my Toyota dealer and I stay away from the Lexus dealers who charge far more.

Hey OP, great to hear that you were able to complete your brake job without a hitch.
I can promise you (if you haven't already noticed) that this forum is remarkable! The reason it is that way, is strictly because of the people in it.
I did my own brake job as well a few months back (my very first brake job at that) with the help of a few members here, and more recently, I replaced my water pump. I have to thank Roadfrog for that, as he gave me pretty much a step-by-step of how to do everything. EVERYTHING!
I took my time and had a small hang up, but I figured it out and everything has been perfect since.
Just an FYI, Lexus wanted nearly $900 to do my brake job, and that was with resurfacing the rear rotors-not replacing, and they wanted $800+ for the water pump repair.
Congrats once again, excellent job!
