There are several threads about changing out the transmission fluid. The debate is about whether to do several drain and fills (a gradual change of fluids) vs. a flush, which is a complete change of fluid in one service. Opponents of the full flush say that there's a chance of transmission malfunction afterwards and not worth the risk. I'll leave it to you to do some research on the forum (search) and make up your own mind before doing anything to the transmission. No need for us to start another debate about this issue here.
I thought I was going nuts when I couldn't find it....how is any fluid good for life ??
jfattibe, you have no idea of the trouble you are starting up again (just kidding). To change the transmission fluid or not in this "sealed" system has been hotly debated in several threads. I refuse to get involved any more and just referee to keep things civil (again just kidding).
I suggest you do a search on the topic and read all the posts. Then make your own decision as to whether you want to do it. One thing you will read is that if you are going to change the fluid, there is a very specific procedure you must follow to do it correctly.
If you are going to change the transmission fluid then I would strongly suggest doing it according to procedure which is a process that involves heating up the fluid and then draining out the correct amount using the Toyota service tool.
After I found out what is involved I would rather have Toyota do it then mess with it because if you don't get the level right you can damage the torque converter.
Welcome to the forum and congrats on your purchase.
Hello everyone. After several months of looking for my dream Lexus and reading several forums on this site I finally bit the bullet and purchased a 2007 LS 460. I'm a DYI kinda guy and read how too change oil already (which I had no idea how to do until this forum). These cars are simply amazing !!
Dude, you supposed to go SC 3/4 for your virgin Lexus. JJK, god knows I saw plenty of LS and even some GS. I am amazed at how great these 20 year old engines are, longevity wise. The 2JEGe or Supra NA is an amazing engine.

On another note. I still have the hesitation after changing the oil ? Does anyone know how long it takes for that to clear up ??
Could you give us a little history.
Is this your first oil change?
Is this your first event of hesitation?
Do you happen to know what oil was in the car before the oil change?
How many miles have accumulated on your car.

Thank you for your response. It is my first oil change I purchased the car in June. I've had the hesitation since. I don't know what oil the dealer had in it but it smelled like dino( don't know if synthetic smells different). I took it out today and put on 20 miles and its still there. I did read in an older forum that it could take a couple hundred miles to clear up but I don't see why ?

If you had the hesitation since you bought it, it can be a number of things that can cause hesitation and not necessarily the oil.
There is some anecdotal reports of members that have had hesitation on acceleration events after an oil change especially switching to synthetic oil which subsides after a few hundred miles. This is thought to be (my theory based on other Toyota cars) deposits from the initial cleaning of new oil that get caught on the oil screens which impede flow to the oil control valve. The VVT particularly the exhaust valve side is oil pressure dependent. After a few hundred miles the deposits liquefy and the condition subsides until the next event of harsh cleaning with fresh oil. The process eventually should go away once the synthetic oil cleans all the deposits or if it's expedited using an engine oil flush.
This may or may not be your problem but it is a good idea to wait it out and see if the hesitation goes away.
