Default Minor suspension noise at low speeds

One issue is unresolved with my 2007 LS 460 L. Minor noise from the suspension area on rough roads at low speeds, it is a rattle sound that is intermittent on rough roads or parking lots. I tried two dealerships but the issue remains unresolved. Most recently the second dealer said it is fixed and had the following listed in the sheet "ADJUSTED ENGINE COVER NOISE IN FRONT SUSPENSION - 99259 INSULATED METAL ENGINE COVER, ROAD TESTED WITH 2 TECHNICIANS TO CONFIRM NO ADDITIONAL NOISES ".

After few weeks, noise is reappearing occasionally. Have you seen this in your experience?

I assume they are referring to the silver engine cover. It's attached to the engine and can't really flex, the engine is a solid block of metal. But they see more Lexus cars than I do... Sounds like a creative effort to fix an intermittent noise (anything intermittent is notoriously difficult to diagnose)
I'd guess a shock/strut or other suspension related part like you did.

If you spin the steering wheel lock to lock while stopped or at very slow speed, does it make the same noise? Our AWD makes a sort of groaning sound when doing this. Also, when going over bumps with wheel fully turned to right or left it feels slightly rattly. I checked all fasteners in the front suspension and they are tight. It is a 2012 with 60k on it. I'm thinking swaybar end links or one of the 4 ball joints per side. It is CPO, so these should be covered (I think).

Cars with AWD typically make weird noises especially at full lock. My Audi will have slight groan at full lock which apparently is normal. Other AWD vehicles I've driven make weird noises at full lock also.
The OP has a 2007 LS which would be RWD so any AWD noises wouldn't apply to him.

Check info on the TSIB "L-SB-0138-11" and see if that is what you are hearing. On my 2007 L I had a low speed knocking/rattle noise, most noticeable on the left rear, that was corrected when I replaced my rear shocks. They have an updated part for both the pneumatic cylinder and the actuator, and the TSIB, so I'm guessing it should be a known issue for the dealer. I think in my case the noise was coming from the actuator, but the shock was bad anyway, so both got replaced.

Good luck tracking down the noise. Mine was pretty obvious and constant, and our roads suck around here, so it wasn't hard to hear it at slow speeds. It was especially obvious in parking lots that had cracks sealed, so there are lots of little abrupt transitions all over, and that makes the rattle obvious.

By actuator was replaced under warranty some time ago. Both dealers have ruled out suspension as the reason. I guess I will wait for it to further develop or look for a master technician outside of dealerships.

Default My suspension/rattle noise is fixed

Wanted to provide update on my cars rattle. After the two local Lexus dealers failed to diagnose the noise, I went a independent Mercedes specialist shop who works on my old Mercedes SUV. I shared my Lexus problem with them and he offered to take a look. I left the car with him for one week and finally have a diagnosis and fix.

My rattle is actually from the brakes, apparently there is a service bulletin in this regard (I was not able to get the number from him). He applied that and the annoying minor rattle has gone. This is what he had in the comments section:

"Removed Front and rear brake pads. Applied caliper grease to the front and rate brake pads, caliper and shims."

I road tested it and the noise is gone. Total cost for this repair was only $257.00. $44 for parts and lubricants and 207 for labor.

This is not a Lexus 460 specific problem it's a brake installation omission. Anytime you perform a brake job you should place some grease or anti rattle fluid to dampen the pads.
That is was an expensive fix and I think you got taken.

Bringing this one back, I had a very similar issue. Low speeds 0-25mph there was a rattling from the passenger front side. I can only describe it as sounding like a blown strut bouncing around. No observed fluid leaking from the strut and it raised and lowered normally.

Upper control arm bushings were ripped, replaced them no change.

The other three air struts were replaced by the prior owner, but not the front right.

I changed the strut and the noise was gone.

Default This issue is back

And apparently not the brake pad issue as per the technician. As of now it is undiagnosed and just waiting to develop more. It is a slight rattle at low speed on rough roads. No issues going over bumps or at high speeds. The noise seem to come from the front of the car but unable to say left or right side.

Sorry to hear the noise is back. Must be very aggravating. Could it be a loose heat shield? Maybe the noise is present at higher speeds also but you just don't hear it.
