Smile LS460 PCV Valve Location

Hello,

Does anybody know where is the PCV valve located, it would be much help if someone could provide the photos of the Pvc valve location in the engine bay? Thanks

Tried to find a diagram for you and could not. Here is my thread on changing it on my 430. May be helpful to find yours. Should not be too hard to visually locate.

LS 460 PCV valve is under the intake manifold. Alldata shows 2.1 hours to change it. Some coolant has to be drained, the entire air filter and inlets are removed. Then the injector drivers and wiring harness are removed, followed by removing the intake manifold. The PCV valve is then accessible. It's not far from the oil filler, down in the valley.

Yikes! Wish I had asked to have mine changed during the fuel sensor recall. Chances are the thing will never break, but man if it does? Looks like I'll be doing some work.

You had the same thought I did. Fortunately I am still scheduled for the recall. Think I'll have them replace it just to be safe.

I was thinking about this today. Is this even a necessary maintenance item? Or will it live until it maybe throws a code?

I think it will last a long time, maybe the life of the vehicle. I know pcv valves are a "maintenance item", but I can't tell you how many good ones I've replaced. Or how many I've actually seen fail (maybe one or two), my last car had 282,000 miles on it before I sold it, never changed the pcv valve.

I agree. I think if you keep your oil changes up to date, sludge, which will clog PCV's, will not form. I don't believe I've ever changed one that was clogged.

2.1 hours is nothing. I'm in the middle of changing the injectors on my Duramax diesel and it takes a pro 20 hours. It will probably take me two weeks, off and on - if nothing strips or breaks, and if everything goes back together as it's supposed to, and if nothing leaks, etc.

Now that we have great cars (compared to the old days) maybe the factories can focus on making them more serviceable.

OMG, that sounds like my previous 7 series BMW. EVERY repair was an ordeal.

Could you imagine if the car companies cared about mechanics and made them easier to service? I'll tell you what, they had better consider something because the industry has a real shortage of quality technicians right now. People aren't going in the trade and I don't blame them one bit. The work is hard, the pay isn't great, you have to buy your own tools and the benefits employers offer their employees is horrendous. And once you figure out how to fix something? It changes the next model year and you're back to square one. And the manufacturers are always trying to cut back on the labor times in warranty work, they don't want to pay you a thing. A ten hour job? They'll try to say it should take you four.

Does 2007 LS460 have 1 or 2 valves? Does anyone have any picture or DIY? otherwise, I am tempted to create one. On Camry, it is such a simple change. Replacing PCV valve increases gas mileage.
