Save me from making a bad decision
Been enjoying my Certified 2007 LS460 for two years and 35,000 miles. Now have 94k on the clock. Out of warranty in 6,,000 miles. Being tempted to trade for a 2011 GS350, BMW 3 series convertible or a MB E350 in the 25-30k range.
|
What is there about your LS460 that causes you to want to downgrade to one of the cars mentioned rather than get a later model LS460?

I am trying to stay under $30,000. Perhaps bored with the LS.

The Lexus LS may be somewhat boring to drive but it's a vehicle that well made, dependable, and reliable. Personally my next decision will be the pursuit of perfection, another Lexus LS. Each to their own.
|
Lexus is so reliable that it makes people who used to suffer with unreliable cars grow bored. They crave the excitement that random car failures bring. I'm moving the other way, from German cars that constantly fail to CPO Lexus and Toyota. And I'm enjoying the feeling of freedom from worry, leaving me to focus on other more important things in life.

well, with a bmw or mb you certainly won't be bored. As one who left bmw because of the reliability, i was happy to be "bored" for a change. I will never own another bmw again. Ridiculously poor reliability and way too much drama.

Buying a BMW is like being bent over and being beaten with cane.
Some people subconsciously want an element of drama in their lives. Normal people who are not as freaky buy a Lexus but unfortunately they tend to be unexciting. |
The amount of frustration and histrionics associated with BMW ownership doesn't nearly make up for the modest increase of excitement over reliability. It's not nearly the elite level of Ferrari or Porsche. My "flagship" 7 series was a joke and will haunt me for the rest of my life!
