my 09 LS w/ 65k on it wont start. last night i drove the car around to several places, and on my last stop of the day i couldnt get the car to start. finally after several tries, it fired right up. but today, no such luck.

all the lights come on (and I have charged my batery with a tender to be sure its not the battery), the steering wheel moves in to position, and I either get a click, or a buzzing sound.

sounds like starter, any other opinions?

Not familiar on how the lexus starter are but if youre hearing the starter spinning and not engaging, it could be the starter not coming all the way out to hit the flywheel or an issue I had with a previous car which is broken teeth on the flywheel. Try switching the ignition on (not start) and putting the car in gear. Then let it roll back or forth for a foot or so then back into drive and try to start it then. If it starts, then it might be a flywheels issue. If not, then a starter. I'd hope for a starter than a flywheel change.
Please keep us posted on your findings since this is the first time Ive heard of this in the forum.

Back in the old days this was usually a faulty Bendix spring, doubt if they use anything like it now days.

Before getting too involved with trying to diagnose the problem unless you're a pro, I'd check the battery connectors at the battery to make sure they are clean and tight and, if okay, have the battery tested under load (free at Advance and Auto Zone) if you don't have the equipment. How old's the battery?
