I have a honda accord that blows out cold air however my lexus just doesnt come nearly as close to how cold my honda gets. I checked the freon and the levels are fine. What could be the issue for this. I replaced all the filters and the car and still nothing. It's not warm, but its not as cold as I would like. Or does the LS460 A/C just not get that cold?

thats funny I've been wondering the same thing, this is by far the weakest ac I've had in 6 cars, i was actually going to stop by the dealer to check for me but in my opinion it eventually gets pretty cold it just takes longer than I'm used to as well as not cold as the rest, ac seats seem weak too

Wow, my 2011 LS must be a lucky one, because it blows FAR colder air than my 06 Town Car did. And that is in Alabama.

My 460 gets very cold, very fast. I don't have an issue with it at all

I think you should look into getting your car checked. Maybe it's a leak.


I think my 07 with 80K has disturbing readily available freezing temps. And I live in Socal by the beach. Numbs my skin too quick.

Are your settings on "recirculate", "LO" and "Auto"?

The A/C must recirculate the existing air inside the car for it to get cooler, it should never take in the warmer air from the outside.

+1 The "LO" part (on your digital temp readout), being the most important. Mine blows nice and cold.

you have Maytag, Fridgidaire, Whirlpool and then you have Lexus... my LS AC on low gets too cold after a while. Lexus is known to have one of (if not the) the best AC systems in an automobile,

How did you check the freon level? I would still run it by the dealer, or another shop that does a/c work, and have them check the charge and pressures. Its pretty easy for a tech to determine if it is operating correctly or not by looking at the high and low side pressures with some gauges.

Mine gets so cold I either shut it off or pop open the moonroof to allow some warmer air in

These cars have all you need for strong a/c. Start with the variable displacement clutch-less compressor. It can compress lots of refrigerant even at at 700 rpm idling in gear on a hot day. Its variable swashplate can reduce the piston stroke to almost nothing as cooling demand lessens. It does not cycle off and on. You also have a nice big condenser with two powerful but quiet variable fans. My a/c is quick to cool down, quiet and powerful, more than a match for a hot central Texas summer. I can't imagine a need for rear a/c.

The quickest way to cool down a hot soaked car is to roll down some windows for 30 seconds or so and select outside air for the a/c. The hot air inside the car can be 30+ degrees hotter than outside air, so recirc. with the windows up takes longer to cool down.

A minor irritation I have with auto-temp a/c and heat is that these systems often wait to start blowing until the evaporator or heater core reach an appropriate temperature. If I could talk to them I'd say "Go ahead and give whatever you got NOW!"

Yeah, my 2007 gets VERY cold, VERY fast. One of the things (among many) that I like the most, expecially in this 90 degree Charlotte heat.

I know my AC blows cold. I took the temp coming from my vents and it was 43*. I know this doesn't translate into cabin temp but that's where it's pretty much supposed to be.

mine so cold the cars next to mine ask if i can turn down the A/C, lol, but on a serious note this is the first time that ive ever heard of an LS/Toyota not blowing cold.
