I also just bought my 08 last week and have been learning as I go. I had to buy an aux cable, no problems with my aux not showing up, but I have to blast the stereo to hear the music from my phone. I thought it wasn't working at first until I turned it up super loud. Sounds great, just can't forget to turn it down before listening to radio! =)

Is your phone volume turned up? What phone are you using? If its an Iphone 4/s or earlier, you can take the analog audio feed from the 32 pin connector at the bottom of the phone (line level and better quality). These cables are available on e-bay for a couple of bucks. Other phones may have a similar setup (vs the earphone jack).

Well, getting back to my issue. Lexus called me today to tell me the new radio didn't fix the problem. They had all their lead techs on it and they are stumped. Thy are going to start swapping parts to find the problem. Just as he started blaming the amp I cut him off and said "there's a $70 aux remote switch that is known to go bad." Can you please test it like I've been asking from day 1?" I am waiting to hear back on that one...

Just heard from Lexus. Apparently they put my amp and radio in a different car and it worked. So now they think it's a wiring issue. This could get expensive...

At these prices, don't let them charge you for their misdiagnoses!

Update**

Apparently somehow the "mute" wiring got damaged that runs back to the amp. To replace the harness is $4000. They are going to cut the wire and run a new one and hope it works without causing static feedback. They said they don't typically splice wires but will do it for me.

Also, surprise surprise the part I've been talking about since day 1 was in fact having issues...

So that's where we are thus far.

Thank you gentlemen. They are done with the fix and said it's all working. Damage is around $700 which is all labor. Won't come with a warranty for the work which sucks, but at least for now I'll have music again.

Picking it up Monday so driving an RX loaner for the weekend. I'll just consider it a very expensive car rental.

I'm not familiar with the issue you identified (aux switch). Where did you find out about this?
