Sunroof glass

I have a 2008 LS460. I noticed my car has a rough texture band on the sunroof glass around the edge all the way around. It's just inside of the gasket but on the actual glass. What is this for?

I have that as well. I can only assume that it helps make a good watertight seal.

mine has the same thing i figured that its just a seal to prevent precipitation from entering into the vehicle
