Just mod less and you'll be able to have bigger available cash for the bigger monthly payment. (about $1000/month including finance fuel and insurance for me)

I'm not going to do suspension, huge wheels, huge brakes, etc. I'm just going to own a lightly modded/mostly stock beast.

I don't care what age, I would NOT spend the $ on a GTR. Period.

Started with a and LS400 hand me down and moved my way up to the top. If your son is as passionate about cars and success and I am then he'll love it and will work harder to get bigger and better models. I swear by lexus now.

It is no better at 64 That is why I bought a 2011 CPO. Besides, let someone else take the $$$ depreciation.

As for buying "old folks cars" I have been doing that since 1980 - Olds Delta 88, Grand Marquis, etc. But now am I old enough to qualify for "old folks cars."

It is hard for me to call a LS that, however. Take a 1990 Buick Regal driving 15 in a 45 zone with a white haired man or woman who can't see over the steering wheel driving - now that is an old folks car!!

It is an old person's car but I love it. If I was 25 again I would get a sports car but that is just me. If he likes the LS he should get it and not worry about what other people think or the stigma attached to it. At 25 I had a 300ZXTT and a SupraTT so I would probably get a GTR.

As others have said, with no wife, kids, house, etc. it is not too hard to afford the car. One thing I do know is kids make things expensive. My private school and daycare costs us $25k a year. Then add in increased life insurance, increased retirement savings, kids college savings, etc. Enjoy the free spending while you can!

It all boils down to preferrence. If I had unlimited funds I would have several one dimension vehicles. But as it stands, I want value with my purchase. And to me, a used LS gives you a fantastic blend of luxury, performance, reliability, prestige and VALUE. It's not the cheapest, or the fastest, or the lightest, but it's the blend baby!!!!

IMHO the LS460, especially the 4th gen, is simply a great, no- a FANTASTIC sedan. I don't consider the LS series an "old folks car" whatsoever. Not like prior Buicks or Cadillacs, anyway. YMMV.

If you like it and can afford it, then buy one. Who cares what anybody else thinks?

I just turned 50 but I act like I'm 20... Always been immature and a little nuts about my toys... I would tell the friend to get whatever he wants. I know I have always had cars, trucks, boats, bicycles and motorcycles of every size shape and color that have been modified to one extreme or another. That said get a nice luxury car that is a few years old, Modify it to fit your style and you can still afford another car that is maybe a little bit more wild...

Trust me I have 3 cars that are all modded ranging from The Z06 that is well into the six digits to the LS which is the mildest of mods. the truck that is DD and is modded mildly and the boat that is over the top. To the custom Harley that is a show stopper. I even have a beach cruiser that I just couldn't leave alone and modded the hell out of it... It's a disease and at the same time a passion..
You can have all the toys you want and what matters most is that you are happy with them... Forget about what others think... Most of my family just laughs at my obsession with all things that move... The rest of them it gives them something to talk about at family events....LOL

My soon-to-be brother in-law, still 21 is loving the LS460, and there just so happens to be a 2011 CPO local. . .

We'll see what happens!
