Just changed the two engine air filters on my 2007 LS460. I noticed in the top cover of the filter box there appears to me an open cell foam post-filter held in place by plastic mesh. I couldn't see this - based on feel alone. Anybody know if this is correct and, if so, does the foam filter ever need changed?
The only thing that should be changed (Based on owners manual) is the removable air filters, so you are good just keep changing the engine filter every 15K.
The more you increase your air flow the more contaminants are likely to enter the engine. Your choice! I never change or modify anything that can impair the internal parts of the engine.

Absolutely. I can tell you first hand stories on K&N's. Scary stuff.
