DIY Replacement of Seat Filters?

The Owners manual instructs to take it to the Dealer for this service.

Is it a DIY task? If so, is there a write-up out there (no luck with CL Search)?

Randy, a seat filter? What the heck is a seat filter? I've heard of air filters, cabin filters, oil filters and coffee filters, but never a seat filter. What page of the manual is this on?

Heated and ventilated seats should have filters but I have yet to even change my cabin filters. Google it see what pops up.

Gotcha Spinner.

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle! I've only owned my LS for 6 years now and I never knew that.

And you know a little while back there was a thread here about the seats not really cooling, and I made some comment about them circulating air but not really cooling. I wonder if my seat filter is so clogged the cool air can't get through.

OK, so now the question is how do I change the filter without seeing my dealer? I may not have money up the wazoo, but I want cool air up there!

I'm telling you, this forum is worth every cent I pay for it. ;)

A little googling around the interwebs came up with this recent gem from our 430 brothers - explains why a search on 460 had no results:

Looks like I'll be crawling under the seat tomorrow morning.

RandyV 08-30-13 10:29 AM

I looked under both seats and see no filter assemblies.

Hmmm... they're somewhere under there. There's a filter I saw on parts diagrams at Lexus South Atlanta parts site... part# 8892150020

Is this for people with IBS? Does your health Insurance cover it?

I've seen other discussions afterwards that indicate they are not in the 460 model. Perhaps someone will show otherwise.

Yes, the improved airflow should greatly improve your Irritable Bowel Syndrome, sir, however the shower curtain cover option I've seen you had installed on your seats would dramatically impede air flow to your rashy nether regions.

Better to just continue driving around with no pants as you have grown accustomed to and hose down the interior after each sojourn.

I did look under the front of the seat from the front this morning and all I saw was electronics. I then looked under the seat from the rear. There is a carpeted cover that you can remove. I peeled it off and there might be a filter accessible from there, but I couldn't readily see it.

I'm not going to bother for now, winter is coming any way! :(

Chaos236 08-31-13 01:37 PM

If it is a easy fix it should be worth doing.

Now you are just being absurd, sir.

Troll elsewhere - perhaps find a hearty IBS forum where you may sniff out others of your ilk to commiserate and find solace in your shared rectal leakage condition.
