Default Vibration Idling and Driving

Going to the dealer in two daysbut wanted to post.

I used to wonder if my engine was running when stopped at a light and marvel at the smooth ride of my 2008 LS460L. Lately I have been feeling a rough idle when stopped and the ride feels jitery on smmoth roads. The odd thing is the car idles smoother with the air conditioner running vs. when it is off. It is very noticeable when off and seems to be apparent when the car is ffully warmed up so the dealer should have no problem replicating the condition. The jittery road thing occurs both when the air is on and off. I bought the car CPO and it had the valve recall work performed (saw that was one possible cause). I think these conditions are related and I will know soon enough but any insight from others is appreciated.

I will report back but obsessing till I get to the dealer

thnx

I have the same problem with my 2007. Lexus checked it out and said it was "normal" and that the 460 idle was worse than the 430 due to them switching from a timing belt to a timing chain. Took it to my local expert import mechanic and he checked everything out and said nothing was wrong. The rough idle is very frustrating to me. I end up putting the transmission in neutral at traffic lights which increases the rpm some and helps smooth out the idle.

Have you tried one of the fuel system/fuel injector cleaner additives? That would be a long shot but not expensive and little risk. Many of the reviews of these products report smoother idling.

Thanks. Car checked out OK. hey said the suspension and everything else was on the money. hey did say I had uneven ture wear and suggested I buy 3 tires using the spare the 4th. Given these have less than 10 miles on them I balked. After some thought I subsequently left a message with the ervice rep saying asking if uneven wear was a symptom of something amiss. The car is there till tomorrow and they are addessing another issue so did say that we could pick it up tomorrow. My other issue by the way is seat wear. The CPO process included "painting" the seats. They already touched them up once but they have white in the creases. The seats looked new when I bought the car but apprently just had make-up on them. I know I sound like a complainer. Overall it is an spectacular car.

I tried fuel system cleaners several times and it had no impact on rough idle problem.
