Question 2007 production numbers

Does anyone know where I can get the production numbers of the LS460S for 2007? I read the AR but that gave total units.
TIA

It is hard to understand exactly what you are looking for.

If you are trying to determine the range of serial numbers that were produced for the US market, then the Valve Spring Recall Notification documents provide some visibility in that regard.

The serial numbers for the 2007 LS460s that were recalled - it is my understanding that all 2007s were recalled - were in the range 5000193-5051857.

The recall documents are available at: www.safercar.gov

Too bad that site doesn't break it down from SWB to LWB to 600. I would love to know how many 600s were sold in 2008

Those numbers don't seem to tell much about how many '07 models were sold. The numbers seem to be saying LSs sold per calendar year. As you know the new 2007 LS460s were sold in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Perhaps I am misreading. The LS sales for any year would include three model years. I don't know that the serial numbers are consecutive but I expect they are and the serial number range of 5000193-5051857 probably reflect that 51,664 '07 LS460s were built for the US market and sold in the US.

I would like to know for my own piece of mind I guess. I had a C5 Corvette that this particular generation had some issues with. I read on line in the forums about the issues they had and instead of being overly concerned I looked up total numbers sold and used that to judge how much i should worry about the issues. My car did end up with one issue and none of the others that were mentioned.
So i use the same thought process for the LS460 i have now. I see people talk about some issues and wondered how big an issue and what is chance of happening to me. I know the valve spring issue affected all LS' but that was taken care of on mine.
I had a CLK 500 that had a tranny cooler inside the radiator that would leak and cost you 6-8k to replace. This was a case of not "if" it will happen but "when" it will happen.Based on numbers sold I figured my days were numbered and I sold the car before the tranny showed problems. 4 months later the guy at the dealership told me the car came in from new owner and needed new tranny.
In summary just trying to get a big picture. I like to know the odds....

I see what you are saying and agree it is probably the 51,000 you mention.
Thanks for your help.

If anyone is interested, using the serial numbers cited in the Valve Spring Recall documents to estimate the number of cars seems to indicate that the following number of cars were built for the US market.

2007 LS460s 51,665
2007 LS460Ls 20,517
2008 LS460s 31,782
2008 LS460Ls 10,322
2008 LS600hL 9,104

I wonder why numbers dropped so dramatically after the 2007 model year. The 460's seemed to sell like gangbusters then really fell as the years passed.

The "Wind Noise" issue was causing lots of buzz and probably impacted sales. I sure wouldn't have bought mine if I had been aware of that issue before I forked over those big bucks. When I started pressing the issue with the dealership they asked me to drive an 2007 LS460L because they said it had the thicker windows and would not have a problem. Wrong! It was as bad as my new 2007 LS460. I was so desperate I was willing to trade in my new 2007 and get a 2008 but the new 2008 LS460 that I test drove was worse than my car. That's when you start doubting your sanity.

The rest of the story is that I repaired the wind noise problem and I still have the car and love it.

I see these cars in parking lots all over the Dallas/Fort Worth area and never pass one without stopping to look at the trim. I can tell whether they have wind noise problem just by looking. Probably 9 out of 10 cars that I see in the'07-'08 models have a wind noise problem and many of the '09s have a problem too.
