I think that's only on the XF. Owners of 2011/2012 XJs have written on the forums that sensors are always off. Unless they have changed on 2013 XJ models, that I don't know.

2 - Info/Nav cluster freezes for no apparent reason, randomly;

3 - No soft close doors;

4 - 2013 models have this new annoying start/stop engine function;

5 - Auto-volume in the sound system can't be turned off;

6 - No more 6-speed on '13 models. 8 speed only. The 6 speed transmission was PERFECT.

7 - Some owners report fuel level sensor malfunctions

The list goes on and on. Stunning car to look at and fun to drive, but for those of us that are spoiled with trouble free Japanese electronics, the XJ will be a rude wake up call to how well you had it with your 600h - if you trade it that is.
The 600 is really such a fantastic vehicle. One of the best from 08 I even had a bentley owner amazed by the vehicle. However I cant stick to a car worth 135K 13 LS 600 when it will lose to a Hyundai Genesis on paper. Or when fuel economy on the cheaper 750 active hybrid is better. Lexus just is not convincing me. But I guess you cant have EVERYTHING,

Actually, my question to the jaguar salesman (also happens to be the owner's son and seem to be a guy who knows the cars) was specifically about the XJ and his answer was that both XF and XJ have the same parking sensor feature, which would turn off in high speeds but are automatically on in low/parking speeds. Can you please post a link to what you saw to the contrary. I could ask a question there - for further clarity. I think they were probably refering to park at high speeds (why? lol). I did see the fuel tank replacement issue. I think most of the issues (hopefully all) would be addressed during warranty.

I seem to be going back and forth about buying the xjl. I think I will put my 600 up for sale in June. If I get a great price, I might sell it and get xjl. Its a tough call.. because the 600 is such a great car.
Lxurious - Respectfully, I disagree with the Hyndai analogy. Hyndai might well be a great value for the money.. its still a Hyndai - Its good that I didn't spend $130,000 on my 600s. You are correct that for some of us, its not worth $130k - especially that they seem to depreciate down, close to the values "lowly normal LS" (lol). Actually, I bought 3 of the 600s but all three were used cars. First for $90,000 (8000 miles), next two in the $70,000 range. One crashed/totaled even for a low speed accident because it was so expensive to repair and the other person's insurance company gave me almost what I paid for it, even after about a year of its use. As great as this car is, it would not be worth $130,000 for me. Some of us, including me, want the badge.. Lexus LS, BMW 7, Audi 8, Mercedes S, Jag XJ are, in my view, all equal... I would prefer to buy a used one of the preceding, rather than an acura or a hyndai.

Here is one of the discussions there. I will eventually buy a Jag XJ-L but I'm keeping my LS460 for when I need to make sure I get to my destination LOL - I love the Jags, all of them. I just don't like to deal with annoying issues on expensive cars.

I sold one of my 600HLs today. The way I calculated, if I put another 20k miles a year, the lexus would cost me almost as much as it would, if I were to lease a new $90,000 jaguar for next 3 years! Go figure!

So.. I sold my one of 600 hls.. and my wife and I went to drive the Jaguar XJL. Beautiful looking car.. Better looking than the 600hl.. but frankly, we both felt that the 600hl is a far superior car, in almost ever respect, other than the outward styling. With 70k miles, my prior 600hl was like brand new! Not a squeek not a shudder. The 600's ride is silky smooth and amazing. Of course, we drove the jag v6 turbo because its the only engine for aws Jag xjl.

So.. lexus 600 hl owners.. you have one of the best cars on the road! Don't be in a rush to sell it

PS: Jaguars have this annoying tiny wires in the front (heated) windshield.. they are very distracting.. absolutely annoying.. We can't find any cars in Wisconsin, without that heated windshield..

Just cause Im curious how did u calculate that cost? Id like to use that for future references. How do you like the navigation/media compared to the LS?

lxurious: I bought the 600hl, used. with 27,000 miles, in dec 2010 for $68,000. 29 months of use. I put in 40,000 miles. Sold for $38,000 (to the dealer). Net cost $30000. About $1030/month. It needed almost no maintenance.
I could lease a new jag xjl for $1200/month, including all taxes.
If I kept the 600 for 2 more years, it would have 105,000 miles on it. I would probably get $20,000 or (maybe even $18000? ) for it. Repairs might cost around $3000 to $5000. Net cost would be around $1000/month.
Plus I would have a very old 2008 car, as great as it might be.
It was a toss up.. whether to keep or not... Since I had two, I thought I would just sell one.
For an extra $200/month.. it was worth getting a new car.. Yesterday, we test drove the xjl. It has heated windshield with thin lines, which is very annoying. The jaguar was a sporty drive but when we got back into my 600, we felt that the 600 was superior. The jaguar looks nicer on the exterior design. Interior, both were equally good.
I had used the nav on the jag, on my son's car. it was neither better or worse. just different. The advantage with Jag is that we can set destination while driving.

I know the lexus dealer very well. He just bought it from me and gave me a fair price. I would have gotten more, if I had sold it retail but I was buying a truck from his sister dealership anyway (not for my personal use).. so I thought I would save on taxes buy selling it to him and avoided having to deal with a retail buyer.

Have you driven an A8?

Only issue is Audi does not have a very good lease, at least they didn't on the A6 when I looked at it.

I really think the A8 might be my new favorite car in this segment, as much as it pains me to say that about the LS.

Yes, I had driven the A8. I prefer the styling of Jaguar xjl. Just a personal preference. The A8 might have a slight advantage in driving performance but at this point, almost all of the top cars are very good, each with their own driving personality.

I prefer the styling of the Jag sure, but to me the A8 rides better, feels better, and the interior is better.
