Default 2007 vs 2008 - which should I buy?

I am looking at 2 LS460's:
* 2007 red/tan with 70k miles for $30k out the door
* 2008 green/tan with 20k miles for $38k out the door

Both are in excellent condition. Is it worth paying $8k more for a car with less miles? Or are they so reliable that 70k miles is not an issue and both cars will perform the same over the next few years? Any other factors I should consider?

Thanks

First you should ask yourself, How many miles do I put on in a year? Example, if you drive 15k per year. 8k will get you an extra 3 years of driving so each year, the car will cost you about 2600. Mine is an 07' with 100560 miles right now. Still running like it was when I first step foot into it. 07' with 70k is about 14K per year. Not bad either. Good Luck with your decision. Either way you will own one of the best cars ever made!

i think you gotta look at the options the cars have and not just the year and mileage. I think that matters a lot. 20-70k isn't that much of a difference if the cars follow the service schedule.

The cars are exactly the same except the 2007 has normal stereo and 2008 has the Mark Levinson system - how much difference is there between the two versions?

IMO, get the 2008 with ML. Is the ML system worth $8k, no but it is way better than the regular premium system and with the lower mileage and likely better condition, I think it is worth it.

I'd say the 2008 for sure. 50K less miles is a lot, plus a year newer and ML..

IMO get the 2008...... Less miles and ML audio is worth it.

get the 2008 + ML+ Nav ................plus 08' most likely you won't have to deal with wind noise and valve train recall.

Now that you mention wind noise, the 2007 definitely has it. I would have to try the fix that others have used but there is no guarantee it will work. When did the wind noise stop? I have a friend who has a 2008 who has the wind noise. All all 2009's free of wind noise? Did it stop sometime in the 2008 product run? Is there a VIN number that marks the end of the wind noise?

i have 07 with ML audio....that and other options that comes with it is definitely the better option, so i'd get the 08 with ML over the 07

also, make sure any 07 or 08 you buy has all TSB done on it.!

I'd buy the 07, but that's just because I would NEVER EVER EVER buy a green vehicle! I tend to buy and sell a whole lot of vehicles (I get bored easily) and certain colors are virtually impossible to re-sell. Now, if you're keeping it long term and love the color green, it won't make much of a difference.

I did not know Green color was hard to sell. Most LS460's are black or silver. I personnally like the green color but they are very hard to find so I guess not many were produced. How about red or white - do they sell better? I typically only keep cars 2 years so resale matters a lot to me.
