Default 2008 lexus ls460l amplifier problems??????

hi I have a 2008 ls460l and i think the amp went bad. the car only has 50k miles on it and is in great condition. when I turn on the radio i only get a clicking noise. no radio, cd or bluetooth works. the navigation however does. My question for you guys is this a well known problem? is it under warranty(recall)? If it is how much to repair/replace? thanks guys

Welcome to CL!

Common problem (assuming you have ML system?), no recall (and not under warranty if you already have 50k miles on, though your dealership may accommodate you, so it's worth a try).

If the dealership is unable to help you and wants full retail for a new amp, do a quick search for ML Repair and you should find a thread somewhere regarding a place (in NY, I believe) that you ship the amp to for repairs at a fairly competitive price.

there is no recall or tsib, but it's a "common" problem on the ls460.

talk to them and see if they can do a goodwill replacement since the car is just out of warranty

Yes...replaced my amp at dealer cost out of pocket. As stated this seems to be common. It's disappointing to see details of this of this sort being missed past the first year by Lexus.

My Lexus 2008 460l with 22,000 miles started the chirping yesterday when I was driving. It dropped a phone call then thw stereo did not come back on and chiping ocuured.I drove 1 hour like that to the dealer and he told me he could fix it for 1385 aftermarket part plus 125 labor and it would take 3-5 days to get the part in.
They disconnected the amp so I dont have the chirping noise and alot of the functions in the car dont work.Very disappointing as this is my 4th lexus and i bought this car only 2 weeks ago and also having a/c problem that the ac doesnt come on for several minutes when starting xcar and makes a clicking sound.

Many people here have sent their amps to this company for repairs:

United Radio
5705 Enterprise Pkwy
East Syracuse NY 13507
315-446-5570

They used to charge $325 to repair it.

i deal with U.R. all the time.. great company.. make sure when u send the amp out you tape your name address an phone # directly on the amp.. as most packaging is thrown out on arrival.. they will call u in a few days of receipt with a repair quote.. if u accept then they'll fix it an offer a warranty..if not they ship it back for shipping charges only....

bschleg2, your car is eligible for an extended warranty. You may want to consider one...

Where did you hear that? Far from the truth, especially with the Lexus Platinum warranty program.

You need to find a better source of information - like here.

Have been on the phone with Lexus. The will not help with any coverage.I bought extended coverage with usaa and it might cover part of it. Lexus says the car still has to be under warranty to buy there platinum warranty.

Sorry to hear that. I wonder if you could source a used one for a few hundred bucks at high end junk yard. I know that a 2008 OEM radio for the LWB is $216 used. I found that at http://market.autopartsfair.com/lexu...d_player.html?

No 2008 ML amps there however.

Does any other year or Lexus model have the same amp?
