Can't Change to Aux-in

On my '08 LS460, I can't change to aux-in. Hard to believe maybe, but I've NEVER used the aux-input on this car (I rarely drive it). Now that my wife and I are taking a few trips this summer and using this car, I decided to connect my Droid with a standard 1/8th cable. I can't even change the head unit to Auxiliary!

Does anyone know whether this thing needs to detect a proper cable before you can even change to this mode, or should I be able to change to aux mode despite having a cable connected or not?

Just need to know whether I should waste time getting a different cable or immediately head to the dealer.

Thanks,

Nick

Head to the dealer.

Switching to aux doesn't require a cable. Seems like a software problem.

try plugging 3.5mm cable to car then to device.. play audio from device then hit aux button.. it has to see voltage to that port before it'll let u access it..

I believe Shibumi1 is right...it does need to see voltage to the port before it will let you access AUX In. I don't have a Lexus, but this has been the experience on my Toyota. I lost the ability to switch to Aux-in on a road trip and fretted over the problem before I figured out the headphone cable had been bumped out of the port. I plugged it back in and all was well...and I regained the ability to switch to AUX.

Yup the guys are right and I was wrong.

When I posted my 1st reply I made the wrong conclusion when I thought that my iPod/iPhone isn't always connected and yet I can switch back and forth between aux and CD/DVD. I never thought that I was able to do that just because the cable was connected to the aux port.

I just tried to remove the cable from the aux port, and it's confirmed that you can't switch to aux if the cable is disconnected.

Sorry for the confusion.

there is an update to the aux port on a TSB also as I recall. It replaces the passive components and the panel and jack. Not sure what it was about, but remember reading about it.

yes, as stated, make sure the aux cable is plugged in before you try to use the disc button to switch to aux mode. otherwise it won't work. if that doesn't work, i say try another cable first before going to dealership. maybe a bad contact
