Default CPO or non-CPO still under warranty

I've been in the market for a while looking for an 08 460L and am looking for some opinions. Would it make sense to get a non-CPO still under warranty and then purchase one from Lexus or just go ahead and get the CPO. The reason I am asking is I figure I might be able to save some money by getting the non-CPO under warranty and just purchase an extended depending on warranty pricing. I'm looking to get out the door around $40K or less, which presently given the prices lately may be wishful thinking. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcomed!

It may be difficult to get out the door for 40k or less for a 460L unless it has very high mileage. If it was me and I found a nice non-CPO, I would attempt to negotiate an extended warranty in the final price but I would want it to be the Lexus Platinum warranty.

Hmmm. Well i have seen some decent non-CPO but with mileage over 50,000, which leads me to believe that even if i wanted to negotiate an extended warranty they could not given it is beyond the original 4yr./50,000 warranty period. Or am I wrong, would they?

You might want to discuss extended warranties with a Lexus dealer. I know that Lexus will CPO a vehicle if it is less than 6 years old, has less than 70,000 miles and passes a multitude of inspections and is reconditioned in certain respects. Other warranty companies have less stringent requirements but may not provide in-depth coverage comparable to the Lexus warranty.

Check out www.jmlexus.com in margate Florida and ask for Mike. I just bought my 2007 LS460 with 32k miles, CPO, and Mark Levinson for 40k out the door.

YESSIRRRRR!

it all depends if you want certain packages or not. I was hellbent on getting ML+comfort plus so it took me a while to find exact LS. Car has to be under factory warranty in order to get Lexus Platinum warranty, just make sure dealer checks first service date as sometimes 2008s with low miles but warranty expired already. My car had 9months of warranty left but only 750miles, so Jerry from Midwest hooked me up before my trip back home.

And I do. I have to have black interior, ML and would like touring package if possible because I prefer the 19" wheels, would like air but for the price $$ im looking to spend it's probably not likely.

I don't think you're going to find a decent one for $40K out the door, especially CPO. Maybe high mileage, but out of warranty. Buying 3rd party warranty not from Lexus would be an option, but honestly they probably don't cover much when the time comes for real repairs (got to read the fine prints). Good luck.
