Default LS460 Brakes

Earlier this year I bought a 2008 CPO Lexus LS460 with 20,000 miles. According to the service records the front brake rotors were turned as part of the CPO process. 5,000 miles later the brakes behave as if the front rotors are warped again. Has anyone tried some aftermarket guality pads and rotors on one of these? I am thinking that may be the best solution.

Thanks

i have not tried aftermarket rotors, but did replace my oem pads with Duralast Ceramic pads. I like the pads a lot, but they are scoring up one of my rotors. The next time, Ill be replacing the rotors and the pads with aftermarket, the OEMS are not that sturdy.

I have tried those: http://brakeperformance.com/brake-ro...ake-Rotors.php

Took the Premium ones with ceramic brake pads for $508 delivered. So far 6 months and 13,000 miles of more braking power, zero dust, zero issues whatsoever.

Quality product for a reasonable price.

lexus begrudgingly replaced the pads and turned the rotors at about 28000. Acting like hard spots on the rotors or warped. I started feeling it again around 50000. pads have a lot left. i don't do much hard driving with it. it is just another item to be disappointed with on this car

why even bother with turning the rotors, better off getting a new set unless this was done at dealers cost underwarranty. the ls 2 piston setup are pretty big being that they are stock so with a ceramic pad they could gather some heat as well as gouge those rotors. I think 50k on stock rotors did there job..

Same thing is happening to me right now. I bought my LS had the rotors turned and in less that 5k miles I am getting that very mild shimmy in the steering wheel when coming to a stop from higher speeds. My next oil change is in 3k and I am going to have them do a brake job. The issue with turning the rotor is that it simply buys you time. You remove mass from the rotor when turning it. This results in easier warpage.

i guess if anything, changing the pad is the key in reducing the wear on the rotors. i have read that the stock pads are pretty aggressive

come to think about it, i still have a set of almost brand new ls460 brakes in my garage collecting dust @_@...

Just replaced all 4 pads last week and resurfaced the rotors at the dealer at 44k... I'm going to opt for ceramics next time

I’m having the same problem on my new LS 460 with 25,000 on it. I am first going to try sanding the disks with 120 garnet sand paper to see if I can remove the pad material that has been deposited unevenly. If that doesn’t work I may try and use a ceramic brake pad and see if that will remove the material. Not a fan of turning rotors would rather just replace them instead. I will report back with my results going to do this over the weekend.

nice find Shibumi1, lets us know when you put them on, I would consider buying this set to have on hand for when I replace mine. There are a lot of manuf shops down in this area of So Cal.
