Default Tire pressure sensors

Why would the sensors go on when the tires are showing 31lbs and have stayed on even when the tires warm up some and show 33lbs? I find it strange that it would trigger and stay on at those pressures.

Thanks

From what I've been reading on here, I'd say they were probably benchmarked kinda high. Just my .02.

A couple of potential things:

1. - Have you checked your spare? The spare is monitored as well. If it is low, and the wheels on the ground are normal, you'll still get a warning.

2. - Each car has settings for two sets of wheels. Check the manual for a position "1" and position "2" In my old GS, i used to hit the button (under the passenger dash) with I put my briefcase there and it bumped the button.

3. - Sometimes you have to resent the initial pressure. Get your tires where you want them, including the spare, then reset the set point.

One of these should do it for you, unless, of course, ...

4. - One or more of the sensors have gone bad and need to be replaced.

Hope that helps.

While some other Lexus models may have the capability to store two sets of sensors I think the LS only allows one set. However, if I have this wrong I would welcome finding out how to store the second set.

The button under the driver's side of the dash is the set button used for resetting the benchmark pressure.

There are several discussions about this and as I recall on the LS only one of codes can be set at a time. There is no switch under the passenger dash. Funny the GS has this feature and not the LS. It would be nice not to have to reprogram the TPMS twice a year when changing to/from winter tires.

Thanks for the replies. There is a button under the drivers side that I pushed. I'm not sure if resolved the problem since the light had already gone off. Since it's warming up out here I hopefully wont have to deal with this much.

Amen. I have not had the second set program in so I don't know what the damage will be just to have the dealer input the set of serial numbers. I just learn to live with the amber light and the warning.

It's about $110 for the dealer to program the sensors.

And if I swap from summer to all seasons and vice versa that's $220 each year for the display to tell me the tire pressures? I think I'll just do it the old fashion way and use my handheld pressure gauge once a month, thank you and live with the amber light. I might even place a black electrical tape over that position if it gets real annoying...j/k

I wonder if they can disable the TPMS all together for you, I had the dealer disable my DRL's and maybe they can do the same with the TPMS. I was without the TPMS for a couple weeks and it was annoying as hell. It's dumb how Lexus only allows one set to be programmed for the car

I had an '06 GS430 that had that capability, the toggle button was above the passenger footwell for two sets of TPMS's.

The recent LS's don't have that ability...and it's supposed to be the flagship of their fleet! Dealers must've complained that they were losing too much nuisance fee$! It's just a 5-minute job if you already have the TPMS codes for them and their 'tech' knows how to run their laptop.

I went to a Discount Tire store and the manager was trained on how to reset the Toyota/Lexus TPMS. He did it for FREE. Of course, I bought tires for 4 cars there... If you have a relationship, it is worth a call.
