Default Anyone still have ticking noise after having VSR done?

I bought my car CPO but the svc records show the VSR recall was done just a few months before I bought it. I brought it in one time for the noise and they said it is normal, just a high pressure fuel pump noise.
Anyone ever got this answer regarding the valvetrain noise?

the ticking noise has nothing to do with the valve spring recall. that's just the HPFP as stated

Flap, I have an 08 LS which had the VSR recall performed in December. Engine with only 15300 miles purrs like a kitten without noticeable ticking. Maybe if your ticking noise is loud enough that it concerns you, perhaps you should visit your dealer and express your concerns and ask if you can listen to the engine of another LS similar in age and mileage to yours. If that car is similar in sound to yours, then that should dispel any concerns you have. If it is much quieter, then maybe the service adviser will be more responsive to your concerns. Also, see recent thread "2007 460 strange engine noise" with last post 3/12/11. Keep us posted as to the outcome.

Waaait!! You may be headed into an ambush. There have been many owner complaints of this phenomena. Your dealer may have already selected a car for you to compare yours with.

When I get around to doing this I will just go select a car on their used lot that is CPO and same year model, regardless of mileage...although the higher the better. Good point

I don't have the ticking noise on mine before or after the valve spring recall. Others have said they have the noise, but I don't and never did have the ticking noise... BTW, I have 12,000 miles on mine.

After responding to your post, I drove my LS for about 30 minutes and upon return, left engine running and exited vehicle to listen for any unusual sounds. I continue to be amazed at how quiet my engine is notwithstanding the amount of power it has. There is no ticking, clicking, etc., none whatsoever.

Default LS460 Engine Ticking, Tapping Noise

I just bought a pre-owned 2008 from Missouri - July 2012 (mint 26k miles, and brought to Texas) - the previous owner had the Lexus dealership in St. Louis, Missouri performed the VSR recall in 2010 (I think); needless to say, they messed it up by not tightening up the 10mm bolts to secure the cam caps - all of them on the driver's side. The previous owner took it back to the same dealership and they were ignorant enough to claim (per the car's service hisotry) the noise does not affect the performance and did nothing to correct.

Well, I bought the car about a month ago and heard the unusual tapping noise, at least for Lexus. I took it to Park Place Lexus in Grapevine, TX . . . not sure what all it took to fix but I had to leave the car there for 4 days (supposedly no damages to the valves or any other elements) but the tapping noise is now gone (mind you, I only picked it up yesterday). The description of the repair was - tightening loose 10 mm bolts in all cam caps, drivers side.

Since you are in Dallas, suggest that you'd take it to Park Place Lexus in Grapevine - these guys are great, fixed it under warranty.

Advice to all Lexus owners, don't settle for anything less than the reputation you expect of a Lexus vehicle.

Good luck!

I also just bought a '08 SWB and noticed the tapping noise in the engine bay. I took it to our local Lexus dealer, saw the service record and seen that the recalls have been done already. They told me that the noise was normal...They inspected and found no problems. Also, the dealer compared my car to another '08 swb and everything supposedly checked out. Prior to this car I had a '04 LS430 and that thing purred like a kitten. I don't know if I should be happy that I "Upgraded" the LS or sad that I might of made a mistake getting rid of the 430.

I am not happy with the ticking noise in my 460 also. At night the ticking noise is very noticeable like a DIESEL.............my 01' LS430 with 182,000 mi. is quieter. Mine is out of warranty so i has to put up with the noise. Flapjack1, don't settle with "oh it is normal" from the dealer........ aren't Lexus V8 supposed to be silky smooth and quiet?

Default Ticking noise

I had a 2010 and now a 2012. For those years you hear the ticking unless you turn up your music a little. It is caused as a result of "Direct Injection". It is normal!
