Default Battery Access

OK, maybe I'm blind, but I searched the archives and looked in the owner's manual and can't find how to access the battery terminals on my 2010 LS460. The manual shows where the battery is located, under the panel, against the firewall on the passenger side. I took the plastic panel off and of course I lost 2 of the plastic clips in the engine compartment. I am a klutz. But the battery is beneath the windshield wiper panel and I can't find an easy way to remove anything that would allow battery access. I thought there might be a remote positive battery terminal, but I didn't see any evidence of one.

I realize I can call roadside assistance if my battery is dead (hopefully not for a long time), but I have jump started several friends over the years and when needed I would like to offer help if I can. Any suggestions?

Default Think I found my answer.

Looking more closely under the hood, I noticed another removable panel on top of the battery. The rubber seal that runs parallel to the firewall gives the impression that there is a solid piece to which the wipers are connected.

So it looks like there are 2 plastic panels that must be removed to get to the battery terminals (the one on top of the battery for sure). I can't imagine how many clips I will lose removing them. Also each panel uses different type clips. I think my buddies will have to get their own roadside assistance.

It would have made things so much easier if Lexus would have installed a remote positive battery terminal. Well tomorrow I'll take a ride to the dealer to replace the clips I lost. The clips will probably cost $49.95 a piece.

You don't have to remove anything in order to get to the terminals. I leave a battery tender on mine...

clips are very simple to remove, there are several smaller ones around under the window and one larger one at the fender, just use a small screwdriver to push in on the center button and they just lift out. When you go to put then back in just gently pry the end apart and push the button in the reverse direction until it pops back up, then just put them back and gently press the button back down.

you can buy them on EBay for about 5.00-10..00 a box. I did this to make sure they were all the same as the dealership just puts in whatever is handy to the mechanic and I like them to be the right one and to match...
