What is the procedure for resetting the Oil Maintenance Required Warning Light on the 2007 Lexus LS-460? The vehicle has keyless ignition.

1. Make sure your trip odometer is on Trip A.
2. With the car turned off, press and hold the "Reset" button for the trip odo.
3. Foot off the brake, press the start button twice while holding the reset button and wait for it to reset.

Default LS 460 rest oil maintenance light

Excellent answer & now for question.

If due to highway driving you exceed the 5k limit for oil change. Example - you exceed the 40k oil change by 1.8k & odometer reads 41.8k when oil changed. Will next oil change warning come at 45k or 46.8k?

Thanks venny1

No, once it's reset, that will be 5,000 miles, or 6 months from the time you reset it...

I was wondering about the 6 months. We bought a car CPO and it sat for a couple months. About a week after we picked it up, the change oil light came on. Didn't think it was due to mileage...

I would take it back to the dealer and ask for a no charge oil change...

Exclamation Reset Oil Maintenance Required Light on Lexus LS-460

The instructions sound very similar to Resetting the 2010 Lexus ES350 Oil Maintenance Required Light.

See this how-to video

If that doesn't work,

try the 2006 Lexus GS Oil Reset Procedure in this video

Good timing on this topic as my light just came on.

When using synthetic oil, the 5K change interval is overly conservative - 8-10K is more reasonable based on documented testing in a myriad of vehicle types.

Any ideas on how extended oil change intervals impact an extended warranty?

Also, what's a good price for an oil change? The Lexus Dealer here has quoted $170!

On a 2007 LS you are OK with 10K oil changes using synthetic. My dealer charges $130 for a synthetic oil and filter change. (Note: I only take it to the dealer because I am working off a $500 credit I received for the VSR recall.)

In theory, I agree that 10k oil changes with synthetic SHOULD be ok. In reality Toyota DID issue some notices that SOME of their cars with 5000 oil change intervals can go 10K with synthetic. The LS460 specifically IS NOT one of them.

It sure is if you have a couple hours to find what you are looking for. It's easier to GOOGLE what you want to do and it usually takes you right here to this forum to give you a quck answer.
