Requiring that the brake pedal be depressed in order to start the engine can be a nuisance, say if the driver is out of the vehicle and the passenger wants to start the engine to run the A/C, etc.

There is a workaround though. Press the engine start switch once to go into ACC mode, then press and hold it for 15 seconds and the engine will start without the brake pedal having to be pressed.

There has been a few times when I was in the pass seat and wife turn off the car to go to the store and it started getting hot inside and needed AC. I had to get out, walk to the driver seat, press the break and start the engine. I tried as you said and it works!!! Very interesting. Thanks for sharing!

So if your wife leaves the car and takes her purse with the key fob in it, you can still start the car from the passenger seat?

Yes, but only if you have your key fob. It only eliminates the need to press on the brake pedal when starting.

It should work on your car. You start from the ignition off position (no lights on dash display). Press and release the start button once, this gets you into ACCY mode. Then press and hold the start button, and the engine will crank after about 15 seconds. You have to be in ACCY mode, not OFF or IGN mode, when you do the press and hold.
