Default Ben Affleck's Friend Hears It

So today I watched last Friday's TMZ which I dvr'ed and they showed a piece where Ben Affleck's friend was getting honked at in Ben's LS. Apparently Ben wanted to avoid the paparazzi so he had his friend go and fetch his car. I'm not sure what happened but the video showed the guy in the car apparently stuck on the road and was getting honked at by the drivers behind him since he stopped the flow of traffic. At the same time, he was being laughed at by people on the street and the folks that were recording the whole incident. In the video you hear people telling him to release the e-brake. I'm not sure what happened so maybe you LS guys can figure out what may have happened or explain what the guy failed to do. Eventually Ben hops in to the car and pulls out within seconds.

Here's the video:

What probably happened was he didn't realize the e-brake release is on the right of the steering wheel...the auto parking brake may also have confused him.

Here are some pics of Ben Affleck's LS 600h L:

hahhaa probably just confusion for his friend if it's brake hold, then he just needs to gas it. if he engage the parking brakes when the car is in D (which maybe likely what happened...) haha....

This happened to one of our members last year (vanlex). In slow moving stop-and-go traffic, the Brake Hold feature when engaged will set the Auto-Park automatically after three minutes of stoppage. The Auto-Park must be released manually, and only then will the car move. Affleck obviously knew this, which is why he was able to disengage it as fast as he did. His driver was evidently not aware.

If you're not familiar with this feature, and the interlock that happens in this situation, it can be quite unnerving, especially with a ample dose of clowns on our roads these days...

If I were Ben, I would have just left the car there and bought a new one!

Yeah, it's just not the same car - compromised brakes and sweaty palm prints on the steering wheel - not to mention a fresh dump on the seat...

Thanks for explaining this. I saw the video again and it clearly showed the car jerking forward a few times. I guess the dude was stepping on the gas while this Brake Hold feature was on. Man were the other drivers giving him an earful with their horns.

You've certainly got to give it to him that he was trying.... He even popped the hood!
