I am purchasing a 2010 LS460L with executive seating.
I want to purchase a 7yr/100K miles Platinum Lexus extended warranty and need a refferal to a dealer that can provide same at reasonable cost. The dealer where I am purchasing the car quoted me the insane price of $3100.00. Any *** istance in this matter is greatly appreciated. Ron

AFAIK, more likely you will have to buy it from the same dealer where you purchase the vehicle.

If you read the sub-printed policy of the extended warranty... hmm... I found out it is not worth it. It is mainly cover the motor and tranny only.

I've had good luck with WARRANTYDIRECT.COM on a number of prior vehicles. I know all the bad stuff about non-manufacturer warranties, but this has worked VERY well. Paid over $4000 on our Mercury Mountaineer without any grief.

And for the record I have zero affiliation with the company other than being a satisfied customer.

I picked up my 2010 SWB yesterday and I got the 6/100,000 extended for $2,300 but it is fully refundable if you never use $1 of it. the dealer also guarantees it if the insurance company is not around. plus i got the 10k and 15k services thrown in. Negotiate with them! I will post pics on another thread.

All dealerships here in Saudi Arabia(all belong to the same company) offer a 5-year-open-mileage warranty for around $750. But for how much they sell the SWB? $83K. And the LWB? $95K.

Just to let know how lucky you're to have the opportunity to choose from a pool of dealerships.

Seems quite likely you didn't get the actual Lexus extended warranty, but rather an aftermarket warranty through the dealer.

I've never had a positive experience with service contracts, extended warranties, etc so I typically opt to simply not get them. Then again, I rarely keep a car more than a few years.

The extended warranty is indeed the Lexus Platinum Care pkg. It is just the refund which is handled by another company if need be and if they are not around the dealership agreed to pay me back. I have never bothered with them before but this seemed like a good deal, plus getting the extra 2 services.

Check with Troy Dietrich at Toyota of Greenfield. He can sell factory Lexus Platinum warranties, and many people on CL have recommended him (you can search his name on here). There is absolutely no need to buy the plan from the dealership selling you the car.

Hi Ron,

That's great, glad to help! Troy has been recommended by many CL members for some time, and I'll definitely be contacting him next time I need an extended warranty. I bought a 7/75 Platinum for the GX some time ago from Jeff Matherne at Lexus of Huntsville. He was great, and also highly recommended on this site, but he no longer works there.
