'Belts 'n Boobs...
Since we got our '08 LS in March, my wife has been fighting the seat belts, particularly the shoulder belt strap.
She wants it to go 'between' her ***** rather than 'across' the left one when driving. She always has to keep readjusting it and finally just holds the belt away from her while driving with her left hand. She's about 5'-5" and maybe 30 pounds overweight, not obese by any definition.
We've adjusted the anchor on the "B" piller and various seating positions without acceptable results.
I see where Lexus offers extenders in 6, 9, 12 and 18" lengths and are available free...BUT they say these are for obese drivers only. For those unfortunate souls that the belt truly isn't long enough to circumvent their girth.
Obesity is not the damn problem. It's the angle of the shoulder belt! A more vertical angle solves the problem...like an extender would provide. It's the angle formed by the "Y" at the junction of the lap belt and shoulder belt that needs to be different. Just a 6 or 9" extension would be perfect and moves the junction of that "Y" enough to do the job.
We had a Taurus many years ago that provided extenders just like this for just that problem. Walmart used to carry them.
Has anyone else run into this and Corporate Lexus' intractable CYA position of denying the fix, like the Nav lockout, etc.? I called Corporate Lexus...they said they'd 'look into it'. Uh-huh...We'll see.

Anyway when sitting in the driver's seat note where it crosses your chest. In her case across the right breast. Then disconnect the seat belt and let it retract about six or eight inches and hold it there with your left hand. (the buckle, not the breast)
Note that the shoulder strap is now positioned a couple inches further to the left and is situated between the breasts and against the rib cage...where it belongs.
This is where it would ride with the extender.

P.S. I suppose if gals had to wear it across their ***** when the belt latched up during impact, the guys should have to wear it through their crotch...maybe they'd then understand
;->
