I was just wondering if there had been anything new on thne wind noise issue. Mine kind of got put on the back burner because I was traveling for a week and then came down with a terrible flu. Im sure lexus thinks I went away but I plan to be abck at it next week. Was just hoping for a new fix while I was out?

I'm interested to know if the 2010 LS460/460L have the TSIB modification for the Cross Wind fix that Lexus came out with previously. Will the 2010s be esentially the same as the 2009s in the windshield area or has Lexus changed the windshield area?

When there is a TSIB it's put in the production line from that VIN on. All future serial numbers of that series will have the fix automically applied at the factory.

Default 104 LS460s In The Florida Lemon Law "Bought Back" Vehicles List

The 104th LS460 was added to Florida's Lemon Law "Bought Back" Vehicles List a couple of days ago. The four latest additions are: one 2007 LS460; two 2007 LS460Ls; one 2008 LS460L.

If you want to check for yourself, you can go here: http://www.myfloridalegal.com/#

A sort of that list shows the following distribution:

2007----LS460-----68
2007----LS460L----20
2008----LS460-----14
2008----LS460L----2

Looking at the Florida AG's Lemon Law list, one cannot help but wonder why any manufacturer would want to sell cars in that state.

Lexus needs to handle this wind noise issue. I hear about this issue with the new LS460 more than any other issue with the car! It seems like an issue they would have addressed for those who own 2007-2008's already and corrected in 2009 if not already! L.G.N.M

As a new CPO 2007 owner, I've slightly experienced this issue. The TSBs (laminate) were performed prior.

I believe there is an inherent design flaw with the aerodynamics. Lexus moved the side mirrors from the triangle to the top of the door. This is creating a venturi effect that the mirrors cannot compensate for.

I deducted this theory after I had installed a clear bra on the front bumper and mirrors. A week after the installation, I started hearing a high pitched whistle. After investigation, the film on the miirors had developed a 1/8" inch "peak" on the inside. I removed the film and the noise disappeared.

IMO, jmcraneys fix may insulate this effect slightly, as the triangle acts like a drum from buffeting compressed airflow. I confirmed this be adding a 1/4" layer of tape on top of this area. However, the noise was not gone completely.

Lexus cannot fix this until they move the "folding mirrors" back to the triangle.

lexusnutt,

I think you are right on with your comment about the "drum" effect. I have said that multiple times in this discussion and I believe that it is a major part of the problem.

Others have reported only minor improvement after taping the trim in the manner that you have described and then great success when they moved on to the DIY fix (the fix that uses the metal patch).

I just wanted to let the Dallas area people with this issue know that the Rep from Headquarters will be here tomorrow at Sewell to look at my car if anyone else has a wind noise issue to bring in.

Was the Rep able to help with this problem? Please report back to us and give names so that my zone in Ca. can contact the Texas zone about a fix.
I just got off the phone with Lexus Zone in Ca. and they have no new info. The first two people i spoke to didn't even know about the problem. Wonderful

Don't believe that for a moment from anyone at Lexus. This is a thorn in their side. My service rep told me they hear about it all the time and it's easier to for many dealers to play dumb at this point.
