I never trust the salesperson. When I was at the dealership looking to buy this car, I was trying to act like I wasn't dead set on the LS460. I was trying to leave the option of an ES350 open because obviously this would give me the best chance of getting the lowest price on the LS460 if the salesperson knows that I am "hesitant" on purchasing the LS for price reasons.

At one point the salesperson clearly thought that I was leaning more towards the ES350 (thanks to my great acting) and so I was asking him about the 0-60 acceleration on the ES350 compared to the LS460, and he told me the ES350's acceleration from 0 to 60 was 5 seconds flat - faster than that of the LS460.

He was trying to make the ES350 look more powerful than it actually was just so I wouldn't feel bad about "giving up" the LS460 for the ES350.

He must have been smoking something.

Lexus' numbers are about 6.8, although some mags were getting 6.2 out of the ES when it first came out.

Some sales guys let testosterone cloud their judgment.

Ok,
My salesman called me to say he quit (or was fired), but he thought the dealer was going to take care of the situation. I contacted GM, who passed it off to salesmanager. He called me and left a message that he was giving me 15,000 mile and 30,000 service. I tried to call him back to get details but no answer or return call. Not taking it very serious. My next step is Lexus corp.

I agree that two free services....even the more expensive 30K, does NOT compensate you for a BIG mistake at best...bait 'n switch at worse.

I would seriously hold out for either a new car equipped as you wanted (of course it's not unreasonable for them to require you to pay just the difference for the extra option(s), or a big cash settlement. I'd say $5000. It's a BIG error on their part. I wonder if your guy got fired because of YOUR situation ONLY or if there were other mistakes he made and yours was just the last straw.

Personally, I wouldn't accept the 15K or 30K vs the screw up they made. I would also be pushing for a vehicle with what you told the sales person you wanted, but, you would have to expect to pay the higher amount.

(amp, speakers, etc.) I think most people would believe the salesman knew what he was talking about.

I knew one salesman who didn't know how "start" RX400h at "delivery". There are many STUPID salespeople out there. That is a given. Sorry about your HDD issues, but try not to get too upset (you didn't do your research buying 70k+ car, with all due respect).

I don't think it was bait and switch, I believe that saleperson was that stupid... I'll take the 15k and 30k service and move on... you don't want to **** off your local Lexus dealership that much (were you will be going to take it for service).

Can't you burn MP3 files on DVD and record 2000 songs on a DVD and play it in your audio system???

I agree that the OP is as much at fault as the incompetant salesperson. I dont see him taking any responsibility for buying a car this expensive without doing enough due diligence. frankly having had an LS430 with the nav and ml I just dont see the point of mp3s in a stereo system that good. its sort of like all the complaining dolts make about standard definition tv shows not looking good on an hdtv. what the heck do they expect? or is society just not giving a damn about quality anymore?

I will see what I can do and will post the outcome.

I just filled out my survey today too. I gave the dealership an A+ but really raised hell with the Nav lockout/s.
Maybe someone actually reads those things.
