DVD Override in LS460L

I have been told that it is possible to overide the lockout feature in the DVD Player and to allow videos to be played while driving. Does anyone know how this is done?????

Luxofreak 12-10-06 05:12 PM

That would be very nice, but I wonder if this would void the warranty and/or make your insurance company not pay for eventual damages if you crash the car while watching porn hahaha....

mk, if you find out, let us know, I am anxious to find the hack to it. Of course, it is for my passenger(s), so they can watch a movie while I drive or vice versa.

Gents, LOL ..... this is always the argument---> "I want to be able to do this so my passengers can watch a video while I'm driving." At least let's be honest.....you want to do the hack so YOU can watch videos while driving. Why would your passengers want to have the safety distraction of a DVD screen in view of the driver just to be able to be entertained while you are driving?? Are they that uncaring for their own safety? I think not.

Yes, it is possible to hack the system to allow the system to watch DVD's while on the fly. Go over to the IS2 forum and have a look around. But you obvisouly know that it is illegal to have a video screen in view of the driver while the car is in motion in almost all jurisdictions. This is one of those mods that you might want to think about ..... is it really such a good idea? Just because something is possible doesn't mean it is a red hot idea.

Very well put Evitz......LOL. Honesty is rewarding.

Never heard of the IS2 forum. What is it and how does one get access to it?

I finally got the delivery today of my LS460 (ordered it Oct 20th), that dvd override is a must hack. Would be great to watch "family guy" on long trips.

ohh btw the car is unreal, worth every penny and every minute I waited for it. I'll post pix once my rims come in in 3 weeks.

rominl 12-15-06 10:57 PM

congrats on receiving your car :)

If you really need the DVD hack you should start your reading here:

This long, and very comprehensive, thread on the IS forum disects everything that needs to be done. Although it is for the IS sedan I would imagine the LS concept is pretty much the same. Good luck.

Congratulations on your new state of the art machine ! ! !

No v.6.1 nav software for Lexus have been found yet to have the override. It is in v.5.1 and earlier. The LS 460 has 6.1. Extensive discussion on this in the GS and IS forums for those who want more info. Also earlier threads here too on LS.

My stereo installer installed my custom 9.2" headrests and actually hack the dvd/tv so I can watch it now while driving. It's just 2 wires to mod... that's all he told me but he's not willing to share which 2 wires. I'll post pictures of the headrests when I have time to take the photos
