LS460 Driver's footwell....

space seemed a little skimpy to me. I was able to drive a SWB model on Saturday for about 20 minutes and loved it! I won't repeat all the accolades handed out in earlier threads except to agree with them. For the purpose of this thread, I wanted to ask what everyone's reaction was to the area available for the driver's feet? When I first sat in the car and got the seat adjusted properly for me, my first thought was that I did not seem to have much room for my left foot. Not cramped or anything, just not very roomy. Also, the carpet on the left vertical side of the footwell seems to protrude a bit into the footwell area, which would not bode well for keeping it clean. My only other "complaint" was that the trunk seems quite small for a car this size (did not have the rear seat A/C, so that wasn't the issue). Not terrible, but just seemed that this was a fairly large car on the outside with some not so large areas inside. Still, I very much enjoyed driving the 460, and it is on my short list to replace my aging (but very reliable) BMW 528 with 153K miles.

Thanks for the feedback. How did the SWB trunk space compare to your aging BMW 528? (What year 528 by the way?)

umm, i only have couple of test drive and chances to check out and sit in the car. didn't recall having space issues with the footwell area though. i definitely feel more space than my gs400 and sc430. can't recall much when compared to other cars though

Thanks for asking. It is a '97 E39 (528) w/manual tranny. I took delivery in June 96. It was one of the very first of this model sold in the U.S. Even if I get the 460, I may just keep this E39. It has been without a doubt, the best car I have ever owned from almost any perspective. I am looking forward to the 460 being just as good or better.
