I would definitely look for the Mark Levinson sound system option. If you can, drive the regular version and the f-sport version. feels like a different car. Where do you live?

Heck yeah, I'd take it straight to get inspected by an honest mechanic and hopefully one that specializes in Japanese brands. If they find any major defects, they might give you a tough time returning it and will want to do an exchange instead (as a rule they absolutely hate returning money). Another good reason, I guess, to buy from somebody within reasonable driving distance.

I lucked up and bought my car from a dealer next door to a Lexus dealer. I had them take it over there for a PPI. Got $1200 knocked off the car because the valley plate was leaking. That was their cost to do it in-house and what they'd take off the selling price. It was a Hyundai store and I didn't want them doing the repair. I brought it home to my Lexus dealer and it wound up being around $1450. Definitely get a PPI from someone knowledgeable with these cars (independent of the selling dealer, of course). It took me a year and all the planets and stars to line up for my situation to happen.

As for the L, is it going to be garaged? It's 205" vs 200". Make sure it will fit in your garage. I have cabinets at the front of mine, and an L would barely fit. I don't ride in the back seat of my car, so the room is a non-issue. My 1 child (age 3) has plenty of room, obviously. I rarely have anyone else in the back seat. Choosing an L or not is just personal preference. Everyone says it rides better, and I've driven both; but unless I drive one right after the other, I wouldn't be able to tell.

Having had the LS460 and the LS460L, I would choose the LWB car every time.

I agree. IMO the standard wheelbase cars don’t look like a proper full size luxury sedan especially today when new Toyo Camry’s and the like's are all similar in size to the LS 460. This wasn’t the case back when they were new however.

Plus the added length of the L model, curb weight, and wheelbase makes the cars ride even smoother. And if you have air suspension, the ride quality is even better.

Opening the longer rear door feels special too, like someone of high importance is being shuttle around town. The added rear seat legroom also puts it in S-Class territory.

Even if you never use the backseat, the other major benefits of the L model is again, the longer wheelbase for an even smoother ride and a better overall dimension or proportions of the car. The chances of getting the air suspension is higher too with the L model.

Everybody's different, when I was looking for another LS because my 400 was a very good car I drove a few 460's and didn't like them at all for many reasons but I bought an f sport because it was just different enough to make it interesting by comparison.
After 3 yrs I only drive it about once a week and will probably sell it at some point, window shopping for an awd mid size with some performance right now but def not german.

If I lived in the Great White North like you do I think I'd go straight for an RX 350 and forget about sedans. I'd assume I'm going to need the extra ground clearance some day.

The smaller suv’s are popular everywhere it seems but in a winter storm they’re scattered in the ditches like dandelions in the spring.

LOL sure, maybe the increased side area makes them a better sail? Without knowing anything else, I'd bet most of those at the side of the road, are mostly 4 cylinder cars that are lighter in weight in general.
But being too light-weight is never a problem in an LS460! (1945-2054 kg (4288-4528 lbs)is what they weigh in at)
