please explain trunk lock wiring mechanics.
 

My 05 LS430 has the soft close and until I broke key fob last week I was opening the trunk manually as the switch inside or button key fob wasnt working. I checked to make the sure the valet lock was off/open. I initially thought it was the trunk lock actuator because my problem initially started with trunk not closing. I would have to pull the emergency handle inside it would move then I could press the soft close button for it to lock.

End goal is to have my key work and trunk release inside work. What should I be checking? Going to add pictures in the a.m. Tonight I thought I had figured it out , thinking the metal rod ball thing was dislodged near the key cylinder.

I have the full Lexus repair document set in PDF for the 03 Lexus LS430 which should be the same across the 01-03 models and might be similar for the 05---who knows. There is a 57 page PDF for the trunk opening and closing system if you think it would help. It has wiring diagrams and lots of troubleshooting information.
