New to me 2004 with 122k on it. No major issues, runs great, BRAND NEW key fob battery.
The key fob only works to unlock the doors/ trunk if I hold it near the front windshield. The door handle lock/ unlock also works if I hold the fob up and near the windshield. If I am more that five feet away from the car, I can’t get anything from the fob.
Anyone else have this issue?? What was the fix??

 

Crap battery? Measure the voltage of the battery. A new one should be 3.3V.
I have had several supposedly new batteries that were below 3V from a sealed package.

Otherwise, there is a problem with that fob.
Do you not have another fob?
The car should come with 2 regular fobs and a Valet fob (does not have trunk button).
If you only have the one fob, get a new one programmed now.
If the new one works normally then the cause was the old fob.
