Default How to pull carpet out when doing passenger 02 sensor (downstream)

I want to change my passenger downstream 02 sensor. I have removed the vent and can pull some of the carpet down, but there seems to be something keeping it held inside the center stack. Anyone have any ideas? All of the DIYs and YouTube videos just seem to say “just pull it down.” I have used a pretty good amount of force. There seems to be a “wing” of carpet that is held somehow just to the left of where the vent was. Thanks.

You have to remove this to get the plastic hooks at the top of the carpet. Or if pull hard enough you can rip them off.

well that sucks. I guess the dyi mentioned above just rips the plastic hooks off! Seems like a bad idea, but I guess it doesn’t matter to some. Maybe I’m not understanding and the dyi didn’t really move the carpet out lol

I'm pretty sure removing the center console is required. All the Toyota/Lexus I've worked on have carpet hooks on the center console frame. I'll attach the procedure from the service manual once I get home.

I was finally able to remove the oxygen sensor with the carpet still being held. Taking out the black piece where your feet would be helped a lot. Just enough room to get to the connector and unlock it (some scraped and cut fingers though).
