Default Mustang Cobra M112 onto LS430

Thought I should start a build thread as I get organised to fit " Thor ".
Have already done the solid fuel line between the rails delete but did it a bit different to the Speed Academy boys who shall henceforth be know as S.A.F.D !!
Also had to do a repair to the vacuum feed spud on the fuel pump engine not running cut off switch as I knocked it and being so brittle and the hose like concrete it just broke off on the housing .
If anybody wants I will post up some pics .
Not breathing too well today so used some time to make up a blanking plate .
I included a 12 x 1.25 thread to take the factory banjo bolt and fitting for the feed to the brake booster .

You can see I did it a bit different to Safd .
I used a stainless double banjo bolt on the inlet side with an AN6 banjo fitting and a single S/S banjo bolt on the other side with the same fitting .
I used a 90 an-6 on the inlet side and a 45 an-6 on the other side as the pic's show .
I like that I only have one hose and was able to leave the Lexus hose alone .
I just cut the pipe off a bit from the factory inlet banjo and then welded it over .

Nice man! Are you going to be doing anything else, to the car like fuel system, tune, or a cooling system for the blower? A air to water setup would be badass.

I also have a terminator I'm building, and had the stock blower sitting on the side forever, but it's ported so I'm not sure how much that's going to affect the way it's setup on the LS. It was awhile ago but i think it was like a 50whp difference vs a stock blower. The port work made that roots blower scream though. Anyway I look forward to see how it comes out! I'll probably pull the trigger on the midplate after I get my trans sorted out.

Going to keep it pretty mild , will send a spare ECU I have to be tickled like on speed academy and I will run a different size pulley to take it up to 7 Psi and that's all she wrote .
The LS is my daily so an extra 100 Hp will be more than enough .
There is insufficient gain to warrant an extra $600 for an intercooler , the total cost will be very close to $3500 so that's $35 per 1 HP , if i fork out another $600 for the intercooler plate that will be $50 for each extra HP and that's not worth it .

We're talking about a air to water setup right? I wasn't even thinking about it for adding horsepower but more for freeing it up I guess. ...I was thinking more along the lines of lower iat temps. Idk what it would be on the 3uz but on both my lightning and cobra, high iats kill horsepower. I think around 160ish my tuner had to pull a lot of timing.

You cant just change the pulley and thats it, the tune on the ecu needs to match the mods done to the car they do not have a tune for larger pulleys they have it for a stock eaton m112, you may need to also use a piggy back as well.

Do you know of any good piggy back options for our cars?

Hmm I wonder if megasquirt has something, off to check and go down the rabbit hole yet on this lol.

Good tip Zero but I'm aware .
Well I talked to the ECU guy in NZ and he said he can tweak it for 7 PSI as its not much more .
Initially I'll have my spare ECU done the same as speed academy and run the same size pulley for a bit.
As soon as I go up to 7 psi I'll do a dyno run and we'll see what's what and if the ECU can be massaged some more .
If not I'll stick to stock pulley size , most definitely not going to a stand alone...too much money .
I've had my days of fast cars , this is just to make it perform a little bit better off the mark...plus some fun !!

I did some test painting on the cam sprocket cover as this is what I'm going to use on Thor .
I'm currently doing the timing belt and water pump and all the other crap that one should do at the same time .
I gotta say I'm not impressed with the fan pulley bracket and the fact one cannot just replace a bearing .
Gunna press the shaft out and see what can be done .
It came out pretty awesome and I recken I'm going to go bat**** and do a whole bunch of stuff in the old sparkeley stuff starting with the airbox lid .
Will leave the engine and side covers off so it can be scene !!

How much is it to send the ECU out to get tweaked?

man you should already know how builds like this are gonna end up being😂. Your gonna go down the rabbit hole.Hopefully you don't have to but...I know if I do this, it'll be one thing after another even if I tell myself I won't do this or that. Next thing you know Im gonna have a full return setup and a standalone and blah blah forged bottom end now 😂. I'm just kidding man lol.

Are you planning on getting a wideband and fuel pressure gauge at least too?

Cog pulleys would make it sound so sick too! At idle it sounds good and even better at wot. I know it's not a racecar but I think it would be badass pulling up to one and hearing the cogs at idle.

Man gotta love that sound !!
I'm just hanging to have my ls430 make that orchestral sound !!
I'm pretty disciplined Zero and there will be a start and end to this mod .
I have several other projects on the go and this car is my daily .
I have a 24 valve 3 litre V6 Busso engine that I've just converted to 1uz/2jz cam belt pulleys and tensioner that's going in my daughters 6 speed manual Platinum IS200 , plus I'm also building a 1g-fe N/A engine with GTE conrods and Honda forged pistons to enable an 8 grand rev range to go in the set up IS200 after the Alfa V6 has been set up in it .
However I have several people who want to buy it but I've resisted that , now however I have the opportunity to get my hands on a 1gz V12 to go in instead .
That 1gz engine would be really cool but I'm not sure I really want to take it on .

Thanks the crazy sound is mostly from the cog pulleys, the blower screams a lot more when it's in boost, it's a glorious sound in person 😁.

I really want this to turn out low mod/part replacing for you so I can finish pulling the trigger on it because I would like to stay the same as you and not go all out with it either because this is also my daily. It sounds like we're the same because I also have multiple projects that are all down/frustrated with too right now. My lightning with it's brand new built motor is one of those headaches I can't figure out wtf is going on.

Youve got more restraint than me man I wish I was like that. This meme is one hundred percent is my life and the way every single car I've had ends up being. 😂 I always tell myself leave it stock this time aaaand it never happens....

Sounds cool man building your car for your daughter, I've got a little while more till I get to have that fun with my son but I look forward to it. I'll be following this build man, wish you the best of luck!

Well I guess I've been doing it a while , back in the mists of time I had a turbo RX7 AND a 1974 coupe RX3 , sold the RX7 and bought a HX ute and put a 350 Chev with double bump heads blah blah , the an FJ40 landcruiser which I fitted a 350 Chev and turbo400 box in and so it goes.
I turned 59 today so over time I've learnt " just because you can...doesn't mean you should " , thing is took me about 40 years to get that one on board !!
Just found tonight that the previous timing belt doer stripped the thread for the tensioner pivot bolt ...bugger !!
No big prob will just put a Time-Sert in it and for once the access is easy !!
Just a hold up .
I will keep posting the stuff I do especially if it's different to what the SA awesome dudes did .

Default Test fit of M112 Supercharger .

Now that the timing belt and waterpump have been done ( finished it all this morning ) I can go back to supercharger stuff .
Did a test fit of the charger on the manifold and if course it fitted purrrfectly .
Tomorrow will be change supercharger colour day .
Me be getting a tiny wee bit excited !! 😁 .
