Default Scratched bezel by Nav Screen

Another thread on the same subject. The last thread has had all the pictures and narrative deleted. So here's another post, WITH pictures and descriptions.

Buy a little roll of vinyl wrap
$12 on Amazon $12 on Amazon
.
Cut a piece 12 inches x 2 inches.
Make a rubbing of the bottom area of the nav screen.

Trim the vinyl to your template (the sides are not parallel), and trim the radius on the lower corners. I used 1 1/8 inch corner radii.

Clean the scratched shelf where greasy fingers have been scratching up the surface for 20 years. Use a harsh detergent like "Super Clean" or 409. Scrub the surfaces where the vinyl needs to stick, especially in the tight corners by the screen.

Stick the vinyl in place, line up the sides with the edges of the buttons. If your template is a little too short, just heat the vinyl a little bit and it will stretch.

Make one relief cut up and away from the edge of the bottom pushbutton.

Heat the film and start stretching the film towards the nav screen. Only heat for 1-2 seconds, then press the film towards the corner. Then repeat about 4-5 times.

Use a sharp razor cutter to trim the excess even with the black plastic trim at the nav screen, and around the buttons.

Cook the vinyl to set the adhesive. I protected my nav screen with a paper towel and a metal spackling putty knife. Maybe 5 passes with a heat gun.
