Default Thoughts on used Lexus Ls430 ECU?

So my 430 started to act up and I did some research and saw that my ecu could be bad so I took it to the lexus dealership and after a week of waiting I finally get a text saying that my ecu is bad.
they quoted me something like 2,280 but 600 for a used ecu and labor, so I am wondering has anyone personally installed and is running a used 430 ecu? Will it be bad if I go the cheap route and get a used ECU rather than getting a new one but costing an arm and a leg?

I would purchase one from All4Swap with no doubts. Cheaper and better functioning.

Do you mind sharing why you and the dealership think the ECU is bad? The only reason I've ever seen an ecu needing to be repaired or replaced is the 04+ transmission shifting issues. You can send you ECU to SIA if you have a 04 or newer with transmission problems.

Do I need to reprogram it after installing it? Or is it just plug and play?

They ll provide you the instructions. If your ECU is repairable, SIA as said above is a great company to get it fixed. They may charge a fee if the ECU is not repairable I think.
