Default Replacing Coolant Temperature Sensor—drain coolant?

I’m planning to replace my LS430’s coolant temperature sensor and wanted to confirm whether I need to drain the coolant first. I would assume it’s necessary but I some of the replacement guides I’ve seen don’t mention it.

Can anyone that has replaced their LS430’s coolant temperature sensor confirm whether they had to drain it or not?

No need to drain. Some coolant may dribble out when you remove it, but no big deal

Unscrew, screw new one in. Bleed the system if you take too long and air works it's way in
