how to stop driver's seat from adjusting?
 

The battery got replaced in my 2003 LS430 last week and now I find I'm having to redo some things.

When I first bought the car several months ago, I remember that it was awkward to have the seat move back when I got into the car. It moved so far back that my arthritic knee had trouble stepping on the brake so I could start the car. (It's fine when the seat is closer to the front.)

I think I fixed that in some way I don't remember, as I haven't thought about it in some time, but when I got into the car after the battery was replaced, zoom there I was, moving too far back. Is there a way to stop the seat from doing this? Thanks.

(I would think the car would have some stable memory, so replacing a battery wouldn't require doing stuff all over again...)

Doesn't yours have the memory seats? If it does, just program 1 to your favourite position. Removing the battery does not wipe the memory.
Otherwise, set the seat to where you like it, and then pull the drivers seat fuse.

Somehow the battery upheaval lost the region in the nav system as well as the driver's seat moving, so I assumed it lost everything.

A common condition after a battery disconnect is that various power features need to be reinitialized.
If the express open/close windows or sunroof do not continue to move after you remove your finger or
if the Driver's Seat does not accept a memory position then you need to perform a simple task.

Car parked and running, move the driver's seat fully forward and then fully to the rear, fully up & down,
fully reclined and straight upright (in an LS but not most Lexi, move the lumbar fully out then retract it).
LS's also need the headrest cycled as well. Windows are simpler, fully open and then closed, twice.

Now that we are working as before the battery exchange, adjust the seat as you like it. If your driving
position is in the front half of the seat travel, when you shut off the car and remove your belt it should
travel to about the half way back position. If your best position is in the back half then it will head for
the rearmost spot.

I do not recommend pulling the power seat fuse, what about a tall/short Valet driver safely moving your
car? What of minor adjustments to combat driver fatigue? How to move the seat fully forward to recover
lost items under the seat? There may also be additional items fused with the seat.

You know the LS was ahead of it's time when a 15 year old car still has you yearning for the good ol' days...!

What.... I have owned my LS for a little over a year. I did not know it can do this. I know that my steering wheel will go up and away when I shut off the car, but did not know that the seat will move automatically to allow easier getting out of the car. This is awesome. I sprained my knee pretty bad last weekend and this would help tremendously. I wonder mine does not do this. Maybe I need to reset/cycle everything?

Of course this means I have to start driving again instead of letting my wife drive me around, but that is a whole other conversation lmao

What stopped my seat from moving after the battery change was pushing one of the Set buttons that I had set a long time ago. Maybe you could clear the Set buttons (I don't know if that is possible.) Or you could use the control to move the seat manually to get out which I assume would leave it back for the next time you got in.
